Olde World Charm

A real nod to the character of the 1930s and 40s, dark and moody. We had a comfortable stay for two nights in a Queen room with a hot breakfast included. The room was cosy given that the original design and concept was kept true to the era but all the amenities were included. The bed was very comfortable and the linen crisp and clean. The bathroom was spacious. The hot breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Items were topped up by the staff when you requested. Hard to beat for $19 each. Check in experience was what I expected. Staff were pleasant and engaging and explained everything in detail. A venue true to it's rating. Would stay there again

The place was clean and warm which was needed as the weather was freezing. The hosts were so friendly and helpful which made our stay so much easier. Nothing was any trouble. The house was awesome so vintage with so many things to look at. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with many rooms to make your stay more enjoyable. The breakfasts were varied and appetising with many choices to suit everyone. I would recommend it to everyone.

Just ok

Reviewed By Lauren B

For the price I thought the experience would be slightly better. No milk or soap in the rooms. But they had a kettle and coffee set up which was strange. Breakfast at was average. Wet cutlery, no serviettes, had to scrap your plate and clean the table afterwards. Beds were comfy and showers were great. Communal area is good for kids with board games etc. parking convenient. Probably fine for one night but I wouldn’t want to be here any longer. Felt a bit school camp like.

Reasonably well kept for its age, comfortable enough

Reviewed By jebskulker

It's a great location and a great price, check-in was easy, the breakfast was basic with toast & cereal & milk & juice & tea & coffee which was enough for me. There are motel rooms with ensuites, but I went for a cheaper room with a shared bathroom which was fine. The man on reception did try to upsell me to an ensuite room for an extra $20 a night but I didn't really need it. The room itself had everything I needed, the heater worked very well & I definitely needed that, the bed was comfortable, it had a sink & a wardrobe to store clothes with extra blankets inside, I spotted 4 powerpoints for charging phones & things, but as it was a budget room there wasn't much else in there, although there was a fridge outside which I stored some drinks in. I was on the top floor so I had to walk up 2 flights of stairs & they creaked a bit, so be mindful if you need to carry luggage or have trouble with stairs. The shared bathrooms were small but adequate, the shower was hot, and the toilets worked as they should. I was concerned about the $1776 callout fee if we set off the fire alarm, which apparently could happen by using the kettle, so I was too scared to have coffee in my room just in case I could actually set off the alarm. Sure, the place is quite old & I've seen the reviews that it is a bit rundown, but it is well maintained for what it is. It's not perfect, but it's nice enough.

Highly recommend this property in the Blue Mountains. The owners John and Sipha are most friendly and accommodating. Our room was a decent size and the bathroom was amazing, with a large bath. In the morning we were greeted personally by name and sat down to an awesome fresh cooked breakfast. We also had the opportunity to chat to other guests at the property. They also provide water, chocolates, cake and biscuits to snack on at other time. Slippers and robes are also provided for the rooms. There is off street parking.

Worst Stay In Katoomba

Reviewed By dammiab

On arrival the place appeared rundown but not terribly bad. We arrived late and settled into a shared 4 bed dorm. We got lucky and it was just us to start. After an hour of sleep on a bed of rocks, a guest (who was called an annoyance by staff to me) was placed in our room. The gentleman was drunk and noisy upon arrival, up and down with all the lights on and off at least once an hour. This would have been fine except I was informed by an unapologetic and rude staff member the next day (hours after checking out) that there was a spare room he could have been placed in. Being in a shared dorm you expect other travellers, we ourselves had just driven for 15 hours from queensland. The first thing we were hoping to do upon arrival was shower, alas there was no towels to be found anywhere in the premises. And not for a lack of searching either as I searched both that night and the next morning before we left. The room was provided with a tiny electric space heater, which combined with a broken window and high ceilings, did nothing to keep any heat as we froze in our beds all night to the sound of our roommates jet plane snoring. The next morning we promptly checked ourselves out by 10am. Whilst we waited to see if any staff would show (in case you're wondering, they didnt), we shopped around online for a new hotel. Having found a new hotel who could get us in (and with a working shower) by 11am we sent a text to the property asking them to contact us. I prebooked 2 beds for 10 nights, of which we stayed for 1. None of which has been refunded, or acknowledged, after multiple attempts to contact the hostel I was told to take it up with booking.com from the rudest staff member I had yet to speak to. After following all the steps on booking.com I was ignored by the property for 10 days. In this time I have called and sent multiple messages to the property. I would not recommend my worst enemy stay with the conditions we were greeted with. I am yet to receive any communication from the hostel regarding my stay.

Dissappointed

Reviewed By ginabambina62

Garden terribly overgrown. Carpet throughout was dirty. Odd odour. The mattress on the bed dipped heavily in the centre. Trying to pass off like a Manor house but failing. Overall very dreary. We had to keep the bathroom door shut when showering as the steam sets off the fire detector. I vaguely remember a sign saying there would be a charge if this occurred. Overall very poor.

Very good stay and a great host

This place is a real treasure chest with full of antiques and a great host.. She cooked an amazing breakfast for each of us and there was lot of other options too. The place is really old but clean and comfortable.. And can spent a whole day at stay by exploring the antiques collection they have.. I read some ones negative review and I guess its because the number given at website is incorrect.. Our stay with Sirens also started with a confusion as the number provided in website was old and we were not able to connect the owner. We even went to the property few hours earlier to check in to check if it was open.. And there was nobody !! We were disappointed and planned to get back home by evening as there are no places for stay available last moment.. But just 30 minutes later Paula called us and confirmed our booking.. She had gone out to buy some essentials before guests arrive.. She let us check in right away and it was all good post that.. .
