The home of swing and bebop for some, "The City of Fountains" to others, Kansas City is different things to different people. Music enthusiasts are drawn to the jazz clubs and old haunts of famous musicians such as Charlie Parker and Count Basie. With more fountains than Rome, there is ample opportunity for scenic strolling from fountain to fountain. Stop along the way to discover interesting neighborhoods and browse through eclectic shops. Families are particularly attracted to the city because of its child-friendly events and venues. Science City features hands-on exhibits including a mock television studio where kids can deliver a weather forecast, while the Zoo houses impressive African and Australian exhibits plus an IMAX Theater. The city's museums cover everything from the history of jazz music to a celebration of African American baseball players. Once a trading post for pioneers heading to the Western United States, today Kansas City is a burgeoning metropolis with activities and attractions for visitors of all ages and interests.

Crossroads Hotel

Gorgeously designed rooms and suites help define the Crossroads experience. But more, this is where historic and modern meet. Where people from all over and around the corner come together. The energy, creativity and passion that define the city and neighborhood can call this place home. Crossroads, just like Kansas City, is at its core about community and connection. At every turn, we tapped local artists, designers and purveyors to share their talent and creativity with us in places public and private.

Great location and architecture, with a lovely roof top bar. Breakfast service was very slow for our 3 day visit and there was never any black tea. Not good if you are not a coffee drinker. Disappointed when this issue was not addressed. There was also a mistake with our bill which I am work8ng to resolve.

Really great hotel.

Reviewed By Bill B

Business trip in May - my usual suspect chain hotels were sold out, but I was really glad that I was able to come across this hotel. Pros: - Staff were all pleasant and professional. - My room was clean and large. - Restaurant/bar - good food with good bartenders. - Gym is new and clean with lots of good equipment to use for a business stay. - Locations - downtown is small enough you can walk everywhere and did not feel in danger at anytime. Cons: - Waitstaff at the restaurant could be better - had to flag down the staff while seated at the table. I also did not really explore the art as that is not my interest, but I was really happy with the stay and would come back if ever back in KC.

I recommend this hotel for the comfort and value. There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves dinner, but we did not try it.

Not Safe for Vehicle/Cleaning Issues

Reviewed By Y5129CDaaronh

I had a one night stay at the Hampton Inn Kansas City - Country Club Plaza. I arrived around 9-10pm and parked in their private parking garage. Upon entering the room, I noticed a very long, black hair on my bed pillow, to which I just placed over on the TV stand, and a pubic hair on the toilet. Within 30 min to an hour of checking in, my truck was broken into in their garage. A man rode a bicycle into the garage, through a large rock through my windows and broke into my truck stealing some items. The front desk was alerted and asked the security guard if they had seen anything, which they said they had not. Keep in mind, the security guard sits out front and could see anyone entering or leaving the parking garage. However, I observed the security guard on multiple occasions sitting on the bench browsing her phone so of course, she did not see anyone. When reviewing cameras, I overheard staff say they needed to clean their cameras so they could see. I was told the GM would reach out to contact me in the next day or two, which did not occur. I reached out directly to see if there was some sort of attempt by Hampton/Hilton to make good on this situation, finding that the GM had been sick, so the lack of call was understandable. However, as a loyal Hilton visitor, I had hoped I would have gotten more than a "we cannot prevent this stuff and I'm sorry it happened." I agree, you cannot prevent criminals from being criminals, but I gave you a very respectful, polite attempt to do more to keep my loyalty than that type of response. Since the property does not seem to warn patrons that your car can/will be broken into, I feel that I should warn others to stay somewhere else when visiting KC. Obviously the garage is not secured or watched closely, nor will management do much afterward. I was up until 3am cleaning glass out of my truck, and had to be up at 6am to get ready for a graduation. I appreciate the front desk staff, as they truly were very kind and beyond helpful. However, I did not enjoy my 3 hours of sleep, on a questionably cleaned bed, in a room I no longer felt safe in, for $400 for the 2 room-stay that we barely slept in, $500 in damage to my vehicle, and $300 worth of personal belongings being stolen. Pretty expensive night at Hampton Inn Kansas City Country Club Plaza. I did reach out directly to Hilton, who apologized and said they would contact management to resolve. Since I already attempted to do that, in a much different manner than complaining on here, I am not hopeful I will be contacted. If Hilton would like to resolve this matter in a more suitable manner, I would be more than happy to take that call and remove this review.
