Los Angeles in Kanazawa

We were a little bit surprised to stumble upon this quirky little place in Kanazawa. When we saw that the place was called Los Angeles in Kanazawa we had no idea what to expect. It's a small and cozy place with typically weird things hanging everywhere. The staff are very friendly and the food was simple but delicious. If you are looking to try a Japanese take on vegan food I would highly recommend stopping by this place and giving it a whirl.

We found this shop on Google map after a long walk along Asanogawa river. When we turned at the corner to the shop, we were brought back to 19th century. The beautiful wooden gate and the well-maintained front garden welcomed us. Inside of the shop/house and the back garden is even more fantastic. The scenery from the cafe, on the second floor, is also great. Friendly staff told us what we could see and hear through the windows. A nightingale was singing somewhere in the garden at the moment. Lovely! We luckily could meet the manager of this shop, Kazuko who is not usually there in daytime, and he is very kind and got lots of knowledge so we really enjoyed talking with him. After they close the cafe and the gallery in early evening then they open Japanese restaurant and bar at the same place. If you are interested in Japanese architectures and gardens and looking for unusual experiences, I strongly recommend you to visit here.Nice coffee/tea, with a little trick, and cake are good deal!In the gallery, you could buy various types of potteries made by Japanese artists. There are more reasons we want to visit this authentic, also comfortable place again but I can't tell you all. You must visit and find out!Dear nascats6,Thank you for finding us using google map.We are happy to hear that.We are proud of our beautiful garden, rooms, and of course The wooden gate. The nightingale's tweets are always making an impression on me.How about you?We are waiting for your next visit.Thank you very much.Kazuko

This cafe is located in the 21st century Museum of Contemporary Art, a modern and stylish building housing mainly boring and pretentious video exhibits that had little artistic merit. Having trailed from one darkened room to another the cafe was a welcome contrast, being set in a light an airy area overlooking the front of the museum. The food was good - all you can eat buffet was good value at around £12, and provided a vast range of tasty cold meat, fish and salad which included some memorable melt-in-the-mouth rare beef. Tofu curry was acceptable if a little bland, but service was fast and friendly.

We went there for dinner. We knew before hand that this place served Japanese baked gluten, a Kanazawa local specialty. The gluten was made into different color and shapes and definitely looked appetizing. This cafe added a modern twist to its meal presentation. The restaurant is within the JR Kanazawa Station and is easy to find.

My wife had their plum noodles and my daughter whom is a picky eater loved the plum noodlesSaw a sign where they were voted best sweat treats in 2014 by some local survey. First: Great Capuccinos. Second: Wonderful and friendly owners. The husband is a transplant from USA and steered us in the right direction for the best restaurants. Last: not only is the coffee good, but the food is good too. Cute place on a pedestrian street not too far from the big market. Worth your while to seek out.
