Dugong is set in a lush, landscaped garden with views to the Ocean, it’s has sprawling lawns and beautiful exotic plants. The lodges are air-conditioned with ceiling fans, the beds are comfortable with clean fresh linen and clean towels. Caron and Martin are amazing, friendly warm hosts, who will make you feel like family from the moment you arrive! We opted for the catered option, and were never disappointed. The breakfasts were delicious with fruit, cereals, yoghurts and a cooked option. Incredible variety of dinners, from mountains of prawns and seafood, Caron’s PeriPeri chicken, meat roasts and braid, accompanied with salads, stirfry vegetables and rice or potatoes or Dugongs garlic bread - which is to die for! Caron went out of her way to cater for our dietary requirements, to make sure there was a gluten free option for every meal. We always look so forward to Caron and Martins cooking, and we always leave blissfully heavier at the end of our trip! ? Our children love Dugong, the stunning pool, access to the beach and big garden! We sat on the deck with a drink and watched the kids play in the surf and in the sand for hours. Dugong never fails to tick all the boxes for us. Until next time! Thank you for having us, counting down til the next trip.

Lula's Paradise

Lulas Paradise is a lodge situated on an island that is only accessible on land during low tide. It is a paradise in all senses of the word, in that it is an untouched fishing haven, and is surrounded by uninhabited stranded islands. It provides the perfect escape from the modern world.

We have had a lovely family holiday at Billfish. The hosts are friendly and very helpful. The town is small and quite, there is a bakery and a small supermarket. The beaches and ocean are the best, warm water, great fishing and pristine beaches, including BD point and Paradise. I can recommend this lodge which offers great value.

Avoid if you can!

Where do I start! The place has a good location and the infrastructure is nice but that’s about it. My family and I went to spend Christmas holidays in Inhassoro before heading to Vilanculos. We had initially booked another hotel and had already paid the deposit but they got in touch with me saying they had overbooked and referred me to this one. Margret the contact person said the place was great with air conditioned self catering chalets and cheaper than what I had initially booked. I should have known the price was too good to be true. We arrived and didn’t even know where reception was. We were told that the chalet we were staying did not have air conditioning but fans. That’s a big difference. But we thought oh well what can we do we are already here and there’s nowhere else to go. We’ll survive 1 week without air con. Second thing, the place was filthy. About 1 hr before arriving I contacted Margret who reserved this place for me and she said our rooms were ready, really? I asked to speak to the manager but the manager was not in town. How is this place still open? In the afternoon the cleaning lady showed up. We were spending Christmas and we brought groceries to prepare our Christmas meal as we were assured there was a fridge and oven. The fridge was broken and there was no gas for the stove/oven. We managed to fix the stove but the fridge was a no-go so we had to use the freezer which is not ideal. On our first night we decided to eat at the restaurant and we placed our order around 5:00pm to eat at 7:00pm. We arrived at 7:30pm and waited until 9:30 and no food. The waiter said they only had 1 cook so it was taking a while. We were the only ones at the restaurant! So we cancelled our order and managed to buy pizza elsewhere. We tried to find available accommodation someplace else for the remainder of our stay before heading to our next destination. After visiting other accommodation in the area we found out that this place has been without management for a while because they cannot find anyone competent to manage. This explains why it looks abandoned. We spent our days in other resorts and only went back to sleep and were glad to head to Vilanculos. One night while we were watching tv there was a power cut but we could see that other places still had electricity. After investigating we found out that they had run out of credelec. So had to wait for them to buy more. Very inconvenient. Mr. Fernando was caught in the crossfire because he was the only one there to hear our complaints though he had no idea what was going on. The manager who was not around contacted Margret to ask us to pay the remainder of our balance as if he was afraid we’d leave without paying. They then wanted to charge us for an extra night though we clearly told them how many days we’d be staying. I feel like we were fooled by everyone involved in our booking. So I’d like to prevent others from experiencing the same frustrations. I still do not know what is Margret’s role in all this but please book directly with the place you’re staying, use no intermediary so there is no confusion. I would not recommend this place as it is now. They need to renovate and a competent manager with experience for this place to compete with the other hotels nearby. No wonder it was still available for the Christmas break. Truly disappointed. Thankfully where we stayed in Vilanculos made up for it.
