East St. Louis is a city in St. Clair County, Illinois, across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Missouri, in the Metro-East region of Southern Illinois. Once a bustling industrial center like many cities in the Rust Belt, East St. Louis has been severely affected by loss of jobs due to deindustrialization during the second half of the 20th century. In 1950, East St. Louis was the fourth largest city in Illinois when population peaked at 82,366. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 27,006, less than one-third of the 1950 census.

The Pub itself is really nice inside and has nice patio seating, i had the shepherds pie which was terrible, i have been to Ireland twice and had shepherd pies in US before in various restaurants and none tasted as bad as this one, it had NO Veggies in it,a shepherds pie least has to have some carrots and peas in it, plus it tasted like it was burned the only thing what tasted good was the mashed potatoes, it came with 2 tiny pieces of bread which crumpled apart when picking them up,also came with a tiny salad,15.95 for what was served is outrageous.My hubby had the Irish breakfast which was to his liking, but was missing the beans which is part of an Irish breakfast.The waitress was pretty nice,and what we thought she was Irish,cause she spoke with an accent,but when asked about the food ingredients and if she was Irish she quickly said No and lost the accent which i thought was pretty funny.

Iâve been to this one several times this year with my family and have never been disappointed with the food or the folks who work there, both are great. The calzones are fantastic and if you want something a little lighter my wife and daughter tell the salads are as well. Great selection of of adult beverages and some interesting (but pretty good) fountain drinks.

Nice, nice people! Tiny place with BIG flavor! Awesome ribs ( no sauce necessary), pastrami( SO lean and tender), SMOKED beans, and deviled egg potato salad( I never liked potato salad but I do now). BEST ever!

We had another Carmine's magnificent meal. The excellent attention to detail, the spot on service and a setting that is both upscale relaxed. It's our go to place in downtown St. Louis. Food beyond compare. *sadly I forgot to photo the appetizer, we were so quick to eat it.Thank you very much for the kind words. Buffalo Bison was VERY good. They only have one cab selection for wine by the glass and thankfully it was really good. Lots of beer choices. Pretzel beer cheese was really Good. Also had the trout and it was excellent. Atmosphere was also great (we sat at the bar).

I am SO impressed with the Broadway Oyster Bar! I did the call ahead priority seating and we were seated right when we checked in on a busy Saturday night. Awesome! We ordered the Voodoo shrimp as a starter and it was phenomenal! Our waitress Carly (I hope I didnât spell that wrong) recommended the Hurricane drink and that was spot on as well. Carly was super friendly and helpful. She found the time on a busy Saturday to get to know our table and we appreciated that. I was stuck between two main dishes and she persuaded me to get the crawfish mona dish. WOW! Carly-thank you SO much. This meal was amazing and I will dream about it back in Michigan. Iâm so glad I found this place on Yelp. 10/10 we will be back someday. Your waitress Carly is a gem! We donât know either! I do know we get a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews just like yours because I respond to every review on Trip Advisor, Google and Yelp. Upon arrival to St. Louis, we asked our Uber driver for his recommendation for BBQ, and he recommended SugarFire. He was so right!! The pulled pork and brisket were amazing. The stop in St. Louis was a small part of our nearly 2 week trip, and this meal at SugarFire was the best meal of the whole trip. Even the side dishes were excellent. One of my favorite things about this place is that they put the meat directly on a sheet of paper (looks like a cross between construction paper and contractor paper), and they serve the sides in little paper holders. This is so much better than generating piles of styrofoam. The price is great too. Don't be worried by the line in front of the restaurant--the line moves fast and you'll get in soon. We would almost return to St. Louis just to go here again!

I was introduced to Tony's in 1966-1968, when I worked for the old St. Louis Globe-Democrat. It was the top-rated restaurant in St. Louis at that time. Since then, the city has changed. Old Busch Memorial Stadium is gone. But downtown St. Louis is thriving like never before and Tony's, in our view, remains the celebrated Italian venue and St. Louis landmark that it has been since 1946. Seventeen years ago, it moved from its 800 North Broadway location to the old Brooks Brothers space in the Equitable Building at the southeast corner of South Broadway and Market Street. Located at 410 Market Street, two blocks from Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch, Tony's is famous for its Wall of Wine, tableside preparation, spaghetti and meatballs, banana ice cream and ice cream pies. An Italian restaurant with an old-world feel, it is noted that 42 percent of its entrees are seafood dishes. Fresh fish from the Atlantic is flown in two or three times a week and Dover Sole is flown in from Europe weekly. Another dramatic change from the 1960s. One thing hasn't changed, however. The service is impeccable and the presentations and tableside preparations are one of a kind. We started with sauteed shrimp, sea scallops and Tony's salad, which consists of mixed greens, scallions, radishes, tomatoes, celery, salami and provolone cheese. My wife, adhering to our more fish/less meat diet, chose sauteed Dover Sole with lemon sauce. I was tempted by swordfish, salmon, lobster, grouper and shrimp but settled on the house's specialty, black pepper rubbed prime sirloin strip steak with green peppercorn cream. For dessert, we couldn't resist sharing bananas flambe served tableside. In St. Louis, Tony's remains the standard for fine dining.
