The pavilion is the perfect place to relax and watch the sun go down.

Beautiful Cottage

Reviewed By YTRex

We booked for 2 nights stay in a Studio cottage for three persons. Cottage is beautifully set with a balcony that opens into the greeneries. There is a loft with a large double bed and a single bed on the lower floor. Room is clean, comfortable and has a well equipped kitchen. It is set in a good location for drivers, as it is a short drive to both Cessnock and Pokolbin towns and to various cellar doors. We encountered an unexpected storm and blackout on our second night. The host was quick to reassure the guests and to ensure our safety and well being, walking in the strong wind and rain with blankets to keep us warm and parceling out battery operated candles, and checking in on us periodically. Luckily, the storm blew over quickly and lights were restored soon after. Definitely a memorable stay, for the beautiful cottage, views and great hospitality.

Small Conference ideal facilities

Ro0m was recently renovated. Clean with a very comfortable bed. The outside balcony overlooking the grounds as the sun set is an excellent feature. Its my third visit to the property. Continental breakfast only breakfast available and it was adequate but could easily be improved with a larger selection of fruit. Its my third stay at the property. I booked a conference for our group and we booked the whole facility. It held a conference for 18 people very well.

Great place to stay - Couples, Family and/or Friends

Reviewed By champers1234

Stayed here on Saturday night - attending the Midnight Oil Concert in the Hunter Valley with a few friends (24 in total). The staff (Reception and Night Manager) were really helpful and friendly. The Hunter Valley Hotel Academy is located in Kurri Kurri, approx. 20 to 30mins from the Hunter Valley. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of my room and clean - comfortable king size bed, modern bathroom. Couldn't fault the place! Our large group were place together in a large building complex which had a common area where we could socialise before and after the concert. It's not a 4 or 5 star accommodation, but I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at this amazing place whilst seeing a concert at Bimbadgen winery. We will be back. The house is just beautiful, the staff are incredible and our total experience was just perfect. The bedrooms have great beds with stunning linens, the living areas are comfy and spacious and the bathrooms are very relaxing. The house itself looked like it had just been in a magazine photoshoot for House and Garden. The balcony overlooks the pool and expansive property and is perfect for enjoying a wine. I really cannot think of any aspect of our stay that wasn't perfect. I highly recommend staying here as it is stunning, close to all the popular places but far enough away to be idyllic and perfect and quiet.

The Vintry

Large, well equipped and very comfortable house in a secluded woodland setting. Some areas for improvement.

Reviewed By westy54

We were four couples who stayed for three nights in this very large four bedroom house each with its own en-suite bathroom. The house is located approximately 500 metres further down the gravel section of De Beyers road from the entrance to the Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard or about 1.7 kilometres from the exit off McDonalds Road (Tulloch's Winery is on the corner of De Beyers and McDonald Roads). The house is in a lovely secluded woodland setting with a large grass area (there were kangaroos here in the morning) to one side of the house and lots of trees. There was a small caravan type of cottage nearby on the same property that was occupied on two of the nights we were there. The house itself has four bedrooms - each with their own balcony areas with two chairs and a small table, a separate laundry, a very large combined dining/lounge room with floor to ceiling windows/glass doors that look out onto a long undercover deck that runs the length of the dining/lounge room area. At the back of the house there was an undercover area where the barbecue was located. One of the bedrooms was much larger than all the rest and it shared a wall - backed onto - the dining/lounge room area. This bedroom had a king sized bed (comfortable) with bed side chests of draws on either side, a built in wardrobe and a large comfortable lounge chair. The ensuite bathroom was quite large with twin vanity basins and a whirlpool bath with the shower being in the bath. Water pressure was good. The other three bedrooms were of a similar size and the entrances to these ran off a long corridor in the opposite direction to the dining/lounge area. Each of these bedrooms was similarly furnished with queen sized beds with bedroom tables and lamps on either side of the bed. One of the ensuite bathrooms with a shower only was wheelchair accessible whilst the other two bathrooms had walk in showers and one of these also had a separate bath. Towels and complimentary toiletries were supplied to all rooms The dining room had a large table with chairs for eight people. The lounge area had two three seater and one single couch as well as a coffee table, a stand alone floor lamp, a stand alone fan and a return with a large TV. There was also a wood burning combustion fire and three bags of logs to feed into it. We gathered kindling from the surrounding woodland. The kitchen had a large fridge with freezer, a wine fridge, large stove and cooktop, kettle, microwave, espresso coffee machine with pods, toaster, dish washer, glass washer plus sufficient crockery, glasses, platters, cutlery etc for eight people. There was also a range of pots and pans although some extra baking dishes would have been useful. The only downfall with the kitchen was the lighting, particularly over the stove and sinks, which we thought was quite poor. The owner had supplied washing up liquid, dishwashing tablets and a range of condiments, olive oil, tea towels etc. The laundry had a washing machine and dryer plus a sink, a bucket and a dust pan set but no long handled broom which would have been particularly useful to clean up round the fireplace. There was some washing powder supplied. The place was very clean and tidy except for the oven and the barbecue with the latter being particularly dirty. The other issue with the barbecue was its location at the back of the property with the only access being from the deck which required you to walk along the grass and down a small slope to get to the back of the house. Whilst lighting in the garage area was fine, there was no light covering the walk from the deck down the slope to the back of the house. It would have been more convenient for the barbecue to have been located on the undercover deck if at all possible. Whilst there was a wood burning fire the house was also very well heated with what appeared to be reverse cycle air conditioning that had a central control and separate controls in each bedroom. WIFI was included and worked reasonably well. We brought most of our supplies for meals etc with us and this is recommended as there is only really a general store at Pokolbin Village (about an 8-10 minute drive away) with supermarkets being in Cessnock (approximately a 20 minute drive away). Apart from the suggestions above and some overall general minor maintenance being required we all thought that this was an excellent place to stay and will no doubt return.
