Helen, a Bavarian Alps replica town in Appalachian Georgia, is home to an Oktoberfest for the ages, overflowing with two-liter beer glasses and Germany's famous bratwursts.  To recover from the festivities, the savviest make their way to Cedar Creek Luxury Cabins on the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Two day getaway

This place is not what the pictures show. Must be old pics because not as nice as it looked online. Got to the Inn, the manager didn’t talk much. Said his wife was washing towels and would bring to us later. We went to eat, came back still no towels. We had to go to office and ask for them again. Tried to watch tv, couldn’t get it to work. There was one remote for the Roku but not for the tv. Went to office thinking it was the batteries in remote. Was told had to wait for manager to come back, couldn’t give batteries without him. Went back to office again, wife of manager came and had to show us how to turn tv to HDMI for Roku. Only had Roku channels. Was watching movies, streaming was in and out, never got to finish seeing all of movies. There was a large black spider next to toilet paper holder on wall. The toilet was toddler size, only 15 inches off the floor. Decided to cancel second night if stay. We used booking.com and got our refund for the second night. Was not worth $127 for even one night.

Cozy Mountain Getaway

A friend and I booked a honeymoon suite in this cute vacation rental right on the outskirts of downtown Helen. Terry and the fellow staff were some of the most hospitable people I have ever encountered. Although my friend I were worried because a honeymoon suite was the only room we could book in town on such a short notice, we ended up having an amazing getaway in a cozy, cabin-like room that we grew to adore. What the amenities lacked in modernity was made up for in pure charm. We fell in love with this cute bed and breakfast and loved being able to enjoy breakfast with the staff and fellow guests each morning. The bed and breakfast’s convenient location relevant to downtown Helen and nearby attractions such as Babyland General and multiple hiking trails and waterfalls allowed us to make the most of our weekend trip to Helen. Furthermore, the on-site parking made excursions even more accessible throughout the day. The prime location of this bed and breakfast means that it is within walking distance of many delicious restaurants, shops, a local grocery store, the dispensary, and even a Biergarten. I could not recommend Black Forest enough and encourage all travelers to Helen to book with Terry for their next visit to the Alpine City.

Why the bad reviews????

Reviewed By Mamameeah

I have to say the reviews had us concerned that we were going to be dealing with a dump. Nothing could be further from the truth. My son-in-law and daughter rented one room and we rented another. While our room had new hard floor, theirs still had carpet. There were minor issues like no plug for the tub ( so take a shower) , but everything worked and both rooms were very clean. The fridge was a nice size and held all our food. We cooked on our hot plate and grilled out back and had large salads, so we had more than the average amount of food and the fridge held it. How many hotels have grills and picnic tables out back? This one does. And the Chattahoochee rippling right there really provides a peaceful environment. The lady running the hotel is very nice. You couldn't ask for friendlier. The breakfast included sausage biscuits, oatmeal, grits, honey buns, blueberry muffins, juice and coffee. Is it perfect? No. It is an older building that still sports harvest gold toilets and tubs, but by golly they work! Buying new this day and time you risk the thing dieing in 2 years time. There are updates being done ( like carpet being replaced with hard floor) and I'm sure covid mandates and restrictions slowed it down like it did everything, but SERIOUSLY, why pay for an economy room and expect the Ritz. Geeze. Why give such bad reviews and hurt the business of someone providing a nice place to stay for folks who can't afford the Hilton. I've stayed in other big name hotels that weren't half as good and paid more for rooms that were nasty. I really hope some of these snobs haven't hurt this lady's business, cuz , honestly, one day I hope to go back. It is worth my 12 hour drive.

GROSS

My expectations weren’t very high, however this place was disgusting to say the least, not clean, bedding not clean, looked like the room door had been kicked in at some point see the attached pics. The desk guy didn’t care and was rude. We had several rooms as a group of us booked and the others rooms were just as bad. If I could give negative stars I would. Beware save your money and go down the road to the holiday inn or something.
