We ate at Son'z with another family (party of 8) while staying at the Hyatt. Overall, the food was pretty good. As a Texan, I would not rank it among my favorite steakhouses, but after eating fish and pork for several days, it was good to get some beef. The atmosphere and service were great.

We are yearly visitors to Maui and in a week will always dine here twice. The service and attentiveness is outstanding as are the menu choices. This visit we had the bufala and tomato salad which is very good, the tequila shrimp and the ahi tuna both of which are outstanding. Dessert is the triple berry pie which we would come all this distance just for that. Truly the best! However we miss very much the Toy Box Tomato salad which has been removed from the menu in recent years. Another dish we'd come all this way to have. Please bring it back.

Just arrived at our hotel and thought we would eat at the Sheraton Black Rock Steak and Seafood restaurant for dinner. The waiter brought water and Hawaiian bread and butter to the table. It was very salty and spicy especially on the top. Inconsistently seasoned. Not very pleasant tasting. My mother-in-law spit it out. If you took the top 1/3 off it was edible. A poor start to the meal. The crab cakes, chicken, proseco and the wedge salad were very good. The ribs were meaty but average tasting. The food is not spicy but in the neutral range to satisfy the average American palate. The butter cake with strawberries and vanilla ice cream is safe. There are more interesting restaurants in the area to eat at if you want more flavors and creativity in the food presentation and preparation.

This has always been a fave when visiting Maui, and we’ve always been pleased w/everything. In fact, I wrote a rave on here 18 mos. ago. What the hell happened since then? Wow, Two nights ago...with a res (and with the place not busy) we were held in the lobby area for 20 mins, then seated. Our server was well-mannered but forgetful. They pride themselves on a 500 degree plate your steak is served on. Ours must’ve been sitting in the window for quite a while, because there was no sizzle to the plate and the steak was lukewarm at best, as was the baked potato. Worse, our filet was overcooked! My wife asked for more sour cream and after what seemed like an eternity, some actually arrived at the table. And about 10 mins after our entrees hit the table, the asparagus finally arrived. Small wedge salad, and my friend ordered an Old Fashioned “up,” which was delivered as a ONE INCH pour in a bucket glass! I just cannot convey the depth of our disappointment at this experience. Previously, the manager was by each table often and engaging with patrons. We saw “the manager” from a distance, but he never even made a singular table visit to chk on us or inquire about our experience. If this continues, THIS Ruth’s Chris will be out of business! What a disappointment! Please rest assured that in this Ruth's Chris, as well as all others, our intention is to provide the highest and finest quality with regard to both food and service, not to mention hospitality - much like Ruth would have done herself. Please email us directly at [email protected] with your contact information, including a phone number, so that we can further address your concerns. We hope you will give us another chance. Thank you!
