Great food, poor rooms

Nice people, good restaurant but the rooms are dated with bad beds, crummy pillows and dirty rooms. We had cobwebs in every corner of the ceilings in our room. Our friends room was equally sub par. It appears that the restaurant is the profit producer that the locals love. We would eat there again if we came back to the area but not stay.

Ironbound Inn

Simply outstanding

We stayed in room 4 as part of our anniversary celebration. When we checked in with Leslie in the restaurant, she was warm and gracious. We’d separately called for a dinner reservation and she’d connected that we were also booked at the Inn. We had a table in the window, able to enjoy a gentle breeze. Our bedroom and bath were spacious with a second bed in an alcove. We had our own deck with lawn furniture as well as access to the grounds which had sitting areas and a cozy fire pit. The bed was comfortable and the linens were excellent. Despite the proximity to route 1, it was extremely quiet and peaceful. In the morning, we met Rob at breakfast, which we enjoyed at the picnic tables. It was nice sitting outside appreciating a calm morning, drinking a nice strong coffee, listening to birdsong. There were muffins, juices and yogurts available. It had poured heavily the day we arrived and the ground was still wet the next morning. I would have loved to explore the grounds and trails but it was still too wet. All in all, it’s a beautiful setting.

Cottage By The Sea

We are experiencing difficulty with Google Maps. From High St in Ellsworth, as you pass Walgreens on your left, get into the left lane and turn left onto Route 1 at the lights.Continue on Route 1 about 4 miles, pass Shirley's Yarn Shop on the right and cross the little bridge just beyond Shirley's. Viking Lumber will be on the right, slow down and get in the right lane. At the edge of Viking property, you will see mailboxes and a dirt road (don't worry about the dirt road, it is part of the Maine scene) with street sign that says Ranch Rd.Turn onto Ranch Rd, turn left into Kilkenny cove, we are the second driveway on the right.

Great place

This is are second stay at the cottages. Jonathan was very helpful. And the best beach on St Croix. Cottage was nicely decorated and real close to beach. Feels like home. There warm and welcoming very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely stay there again.

4. Berry Hill Farm B&B

79 Point Rd, Hancock, ME 04640-3700

Berry Hill Farm B & B has given new life to an old classic Maine farmhouse. Built in 1828 by a local sea captain, it's original occupation was raising cows. Now, the home has been fully restored to offer comfortable accommodations for travelers. The farm sits on 30 private acres with open rolling fields, apple trees and beautiful gardens surrounding the house. A network of walking paths wind through the mature pine forest to the scenic seashore.

We were swept away by our first experience here - maybe 14 stays ago now. And we are swept away again each time, absolutely. Karen is the most considerate host, and Three Pines B&B is in a stunning location right on Frenchmen’s Bay. Her two rooms are separated from her house by a lovely open breezeway, where she serves a vegetarian breakfast each morning. And what a beautiful breakfast! We stay in the upper room (Gable Room) with a spectacular view of the bay. It feels very private, which we like. Karen is readily available and has great suggestions for hiking, dining, etc.., upon request. We love her animals, from her little pug Miss Magoo to her sheep and all in between, cared for very tenderly by Karen. We love her off-the-grid home. Absolute highest recommendation!
