Not quite perfect.

All the staff were very pleasant, and we had no trouble with the apartment itself. However, the cleaning regime was haphazard to say the least. We were staying for a month. In the room, a notice informed us there would be no cleaning! Reception told us we would get a “deep clean” every Tuesday during our stay and we could request fresh towels or bed linen in between. First Tuesday, we returned just as cleaner left. We had to run after her to show the marks still on the mirror and coffee table. The second Tuesday, we were left only one hand towel. The third Tuesday, we didn’t get cleaning. They were too busy, they said. After complaint, we were done Wednesday. We left a sticky note on the headboard to clean three weeks dust. The fourth week, they appeared on Monday late afternoon, which was not convenient for us.Nothing was “deep cleaned” . The carpet edges were filthy. The washbasin was only wiped over, soap marks remained. The cleaning staff seemed at best inexperienced or at worst inefficient. The constant trips to reception to request dishwashing tablets, or washing powder, or one more towel, became tiresome.

Noise issues.

Reviewed By Paul U

Stayed here due to proximity to Cabrini hospital where we had a sick relative. Underground car park has designated bays but is a bit confusing the first time you use it. Parking rates excellent. Room was on the 11th floor and fronted Dandenong road with excellent views over S/E suburbs and the bay. Too noisy though with traffic and train sounds insufficiently suppressed as well as outside light at night. No restaurant but a short walk to Derby St where there is a supermarket and several great asian eateries. The staff are helpful and work hard. The real issue for us was other guests with a 3-30 am loud party next door with smoking on the balcony and the night manager twice had to get them to stop the racket. The next night there were young people running around the hallways at 4-30am in the morning yelling and knocking on doors. Feel for the staff here as their client base appear to be fairly feral.

Budget motel city stay style

Reviewed By Maisie D

The price is reasonable but what you are expected is a budget motel. Very centralised location and convenient to different places. The hotel is just off to the main road which is quite noisy throughout day and night. Even at 11pm at night or 6am in the morning, you would expect the tram and car noise. No room service at this moment. You can ask for new linen if it’s a long stay but it’s not encouraged. Limited sanitary and toiletries supply in the room. You need to ask all the time. ( only a few packs of shampoo are provided. No conditioner or shower gel) No complimentary bottle of water are provided. Room is a bit dusty. Bed is hard not very comfy. Car space is available but the entrance through the arcade is quite narrow to manoeuvre your car in. Sound proof system from room to room is not great. You should pray for a good neighbour who don’t come back in the midnight. This so called hotel is a budget motel standard. You don’t expect too much. A short stay is fine.

Saturday night bistro dinner

Reviewed By baz1867

Went for dinner and the service was from the waitresses was very ordinary. Asked to be seated elsewhere and not in the doorway only to be told tables were booked and they remained empty for the whole time we were there. Ordered a medium rare steak and it was over cooked and the salad was a bunch of lettuce. Expect a little better for $38 dollar steak. On an a positive the Parmas are very good and a decent size. No sooner had we finished we were rushed out the place. Won’t be going back.

I like the old style art deco type buildings and the high ceilings. To have accommodation where you do not feel cramped and you have space and you are not paying any extra for it is lovely. Convenient to all of the shops and sights of the area and yet not noisy. We had the double bedroom apartment which also had the balcony which allowed us to chat to some of the locals.

Surpriseing

Reviewed By Danielle J

Went here on Friday for a casual business meeting but stayed to drink with the locals. Gorgeous little venue, outstanding service and facilities. I wished I'd gotten the name of the lovely lady behind the bar. Old fashioned service with a smile, she managed to keep the drinks up to everyone and continued to chat and smile all night. Stayed the night upstairs and was pleasantly surprised by the room. Spotlessly clean, bright and nicely decorated. Had an amazing sleep in a super comfy queen bed. Check in was easy and it's a leave your key in a box as you leave type check out. Really cant say enough about this little gem, just 15 minutes from the city and easily $100 cheaper than anywhere up town. Will be my go to now for any sleep overs I have in Melbourne. Well done people, keep up the good work.
