Cold comfort
Reviewed By RebritesWe walked 20+ kilometers to Givet from Dinant, and were more than ready for a hot shower and a relaxing evening. What we got was a hotel that was closed. We were given keys and access codes via telephone, and found we were the only living souls in the place. Our room (the "famiy suite") was large and clean, if a little worn. There was a pot to boil water for tea, but no electrical outlets to plug it into...we figured it out. But when I ran the water for a shower... NO HOT WATER. And yes, we tried everything! I phoned the mystery voice, and was told there is nothing he can do to fix it. We used the teapot to heat water for a sponge-bath, but that's cold comfort when you've paid for a proper hotel room. We saw no one the following morning; there was no answer on the phone. No good.

Reviewed By James CDo not book online. I booked via Booking.com at 5pm and at 6pm when I arrived the hotel was closed. I waited 1 hour before finding alternative accommodation. At 9pm the hotel phoned me after I messaged several times through the web site I booked with to ask if I still wanted to check in. I tried to get a refund but they have so far refused to do it. So not only did I pay for what looked like a nice hotel for the night I paid again to stay somewhere else. AVOID this place

Reviewed By 368marleennWe had dinner in the restaurant. Had to wait more than an hour for the food to arrive. Paid more than 70 euro for a couple of drinks, 6 overcooked escargot without sauce, and two lukewarm dinner plates. The rumpsteak was scorched black, the french fries soggy and the side salad consisted of bare pieces of green salad with brown trims. The least value for money in our entire life.

Bicycle trip

We booked it, because Givet was the starting point of our bicycle trip Trans-Ardennes, La Meuse à Vélo, and we needed a place where we could park our car for several days. The lady at the reception was very friendly and helpfull. The hotel has a big parking and they adviced us to park our car after the hotel, so you could not see him from the street. We were able to park our bicycles in a safe place too. It is a typical Ibis budget hotel, so do not expect any luxuary, but that you know in advance. The room is the standard Ibis budget room, and breakfast buffet is basic, but enough for the price you pay. Room was quiet and clean. Lidl is next to the hotel. Mc Donalds is close too, but not far from the Mc Donalds is an Eastern Buffet restaurant, Le Royal Givet. For a fixed price, you can eat as much as you like from the buffet. It is not gastronimic, but good for the price. For better food, go to Givet! It is about 1.5 km to the town center and to the bicycle route la Meuse à Vélo.

Welcome to Orchidee Rose B&B! We are delighted to entertain you in their new house, overlooking the Meuse (the river), Charlemont Fort and Givet town, a very nice and quite place - 4 bedrooms including a suite, 3 ears of Gites de France label. 1st floor (independant entrance) : living room, lounge area, kitchenette (micro wave, oven, fridge).
