Stopped by for lunch today, nice restaurant and wait persons but for us the food was lacking, but then Iâm from AZ used to regular Mexican food. The food at this restaurant was rather bland, couldnât taste a jalapeño or poblano anywhere. The beef enchilada was just bland ground beef, and although the tortilla had been coated in sauce there was none on the plate and very little cheese on top. I also had a guacamole tostada, expecting a flat tortilla but received a corn tortilla cup filled with guacamole which was difficult to eat. My Companion had the same beef enchiladas, and the same complaint, no spicy seasoning. Besides being bland it was small. The food was definitely edible, but just not seasoned. The rice was ok but the same complaint, lacking flavor. Their menu is extensive, making you think they have a large repertoire but the seasoning and spice level was missing for us. Kind, friendly folks, though and easy to get to near a highway.

We asked several locals, Where's a good Mexcian restaurant nearby?" El Dorado was the answer we got. The locals are right. The food was great. I had a Super Quesadilla - chicken was my protein choice. It was the best ever; very authentic flavor. The salsa for the chips was also very fully flavored. My wife ate for $18.00, a reasonable price for the quantity and quality of our meals. If we happen to pass through again, the El Dorado at the exit 186 Red Roof Inn will be our food stop.

3. La Pasadita Cafe

I was so blown away by this little hole in the wall. It is attached to a gas station and I was not expecting much. The food is delicious and completely authentic. I had tacos and they were amazing - the prices are unbeatable. I will be a loyal customer from now on. No thank you taco bell! Much gracias La Pasadita.
