Georgia, United States Food Guide: 10 Italian food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Atlanta

Discover Restaurants offering the best Italian food in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Atlanta has been dubbed everything from the "capital of the new South" and "the next international city" to "the best place to do business." It's also a great place to visit. Fueled by the prosperity of local mega companies like Coca Cola and Holiday Inn, the prestige of hosting the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and the energy of young upwardly mobile types who have migrated to the city in droves - Atlanta is on fire. And this time it's a good thing. From world-class restaurants and a myriad of cultural attractions to a hip nightlife and sporting events galore, the city is cosmopolitan in every sense of the word. But Atlanta has also managed to maintain its historic character. Stop by the Atlanta History Center or visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Site, a moving tribute to an American icon. Browse through the former home of famous author Margaret Mitchell or pop into the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum for details on the life and times of the former president and his family. Whether you choose modern urban endeavors or old southern pleasures, Atlanta will not disappoint.

This is authentic Naples style pizza. They don’t allow you more than one topping. We ordered the margarita pizza with pepperoni and sausage toppings but they wouldn’t put both toppings on it. Never heard of such a thing???for that they get moved down a star. If I’m paying why can’t I get pizza the way I want it?They sell beer & wine here but also allow you to bring your own which is cool and I always do when I come here. I bring a small cooler with a few beers or I will bring a bottle of red wine. The seating is community seating at tables which hold 8 people so if you don’t like people get your pizza to go. It’s very busy here as they are close to Georgia tech so a lot of young people coming & going but the turnover is high as the pizza cooks quickly. Back to the pizza...the pizza is ready in about 5 minutes after you order it as the wood fired ovens operate at 900degrees. It’s served on a sheet pan and they don’t have plates..not even paper plates. They have rolls of paper towels which double as napkins. The pizza is delicious, soft and chewy crust which is nicely charred on the edges from the high heat of the ovens.

The wine list is excellent and the service very good. Reservations a must. Valet parking available. If you like Italian a must try kind of place.

Sotto Sotto has excellent northern Italian food. The items are far more than the usual (rather boring) options. The pastas are innovative and very tasty. Good appetizers. Substantial wine list (not really cheap). Good cocktails, many of which are unusual. The chocolate soup is a real dessert treat. Absolutely excellent service. The sign on the restaurant is a little hard to see.

We visited a number of restaurants in Nashville, Gatlinburg and Atlanta during our vacation and this was the only one that was full (and on a Monday night) and buzzing. The food is very nice and easily on a par with good Italian restaurants in Europe, and the service was friendly and efficient.... A bit more of a gap between appetizer and mains would have been nice, but this seems to be something a lot of American restaurants struggle with, at least we had finished our starters before the mains appeared, which was better than some other restaurants we visited

The concierge at our hotel arranged a last minute reservation here the night of our arrival. I wasn't particularly wanting Italian and was skeptical when I learned it was just across from the hotel. But occasionally you get lucky. We shared several pastas and appetizers and everything was excellent. This is not red sauce & pizza; it's American interpretation of haute Italian, in good way. The room is attractive and lively without being too loud. Comfortable chairs & tables, good servive. I would return.

The last 2 times we went to LaGrotta (and dropped a lot of $$), The Waiters were horrible. Once was outside on the patio..our waiter hardly spoke or understood English and had to get a Russian guy to interpret, (not much better), It took ONE hour from the time we ordered til our food came, Totally unacceptable!! My friend ordered glass of wine early on and didn't get it until we were finished eating! Bad bad service, The last time just a couple weeks ago, The waiter was SO rude and condescending. When I asked him for a cocktail menu, he was so disgusted with me he shoved the huge menu at me and said that was on the last page, Well, of course!!! I SHOULD have known that! The wait staff was rude impatient and acted if we were just plain ruining his whole night! What arrogance!! Some of those waiters have been there forever. Maybe they need some new faces...that can actually SMILE and be pleasant!! It will be a long time before we go to "the Cave" again!! Too bad cuz the food is excellent.

Babbette's is located in a converted house, which made for a comfortable, softly lit, intimate setting for a dinner for two. Service was very nice throughout. We had the eggplant puree--very nice; watermelon salad--also very nice and a large portion; and a tasting of the grilled corn and crab soup. Good flavor but the crab was a barely noticeable accent--so a slight disappointment. The paella was satisfactory, but whether it was a too heavy hand with the pimenton (smoked paprika) or the spice of the chorizo, I thought the characteristic saffron taste was overwhelmed. I would have it again, but adjust my expectations slightly. My wife had the veal piccata--which was one of the best either of us has had. The veal cutlets were thin and tender, and the piccata sauce was superb. We skipped dessert, as we were already sated. All in all, a pleasant experience. We'll give it another try when we're back in Atlanta.Thank you for the feed back, will pass these notes on to the staff. We're sorry to hear that the soup and paella weren't what you were expecting. We've actually replaced them on the menu and hope to see you in soon to give some of our new options a try.
