Fredericksburg Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Fredericksburg

April 22, 2023 Agatha Simes

In the heart of Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg is a small city with a unique German flavor in its quaint bakeries, Hauptstrasse (Main Street) boutiques and generations-old peach orchards. Weekenders from nearby San Antonio and Austin have long appreciated the charm of the city's many B&Bs and "Sunday House" Inns. The surrounding Texas Hill Country is home to lush vineyards, making up one of the country's largest viticultural areas.

Delightful Stay at Country Inn and Cottages

Reviewed By Janetltft

What a wonderful time we had staying at Country Inn and Cottages! Our cottage was clean, comfortable, and enjoyable, with leather couch and chair and comfortable bed. We loved sitting on the porch, listening to the animals, and the quietness. The elk and deer were fun to feed and watch. Anything we requested was taken care of immediately by Jeanette. Jeff went way beyond expectations. Thank you, Jeff. We loved staying here and will definitely do so again! We would highly recommend these cottages.

Quick but very happy with our stay!

Reviewed By Mo C

Great room, we felt very welcome to come into the lights being on for our late arrival, rather than stumbling around to find light switches. We were only here one night as we had an early start the next day, but they accommodated our request for an early breakfast. The breakfast arrives in a picnic basket and included pastries, yogurt parfait, fruit, and orange juice. It was way more than expected. There's a keurig coffee maker in the room, so there was plenty of coffee. There's a fridge and a microwave in the room. The only minor drawback was the bathroom was downstairs and the bedroom upstairs, but that wasn't really a big deal. Plenty of fluffy, fresh white towels in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I'd for sure stay here again! Very quiet and peaceful.

Hill Country Herb Garden

Sunday house cottages are unique to this area. German settlers would build these small “City Houses” to use on weekends when they came to town to buy provisions for the week and to also attend Sunday Church services. The Sunday Haus Cottages at The Fredericksburg Herb Farm are patterned after three of the most popular historical designs. Each cottage is similar in ways, yet different in others. The cottages provide all the comforts of home including a king bed, bathroom with shower, granite vanity with vessel sink, comfortable seating, flat screen HD video, high speed internet, ceiling fans and rockers on a porch bordered by white jasmine blossoms. Crushed granite, winding paths lead from the cottages to the Spa, Restaurant, Gardens and Retail Shop. An arbor with two, wide cedar swings provide a relaxing interlude for reflections of times gone by.

Absolutely lovely Spa and terrific massage!

Reviewed By InlovewGstaad

This is a Spa review- not cottages. Lovely! The Spa is clean, beautiful, well appointed, serene, with welcoming, attentive and helpful staff. There is a relaxation area, a small outdoor relaxation area, lovely treatment rooms, a boutique area with spa items for sale, complimentary coffee, Mimosas, juices or refreshing Cucumber water. My masseuse - Amy, was the best masseuse I’ve ever had- she really knows her stuff. Next time I’ll add aroma therapy to my session! All in all, a super treat and early birthday present. Highly recommend! And I’m told the restaurant their will be opening soon, which will add to relaxing Spa afternoon!

Kusenberger cabin

Reviewed By soexcitedColorado

We stayed in the Kusenberger cabin last minute. The owner was wonderful to work with and did all she could to get us a cabin for a night while driving through. The cabin was one of the coolest we have ever stayed in. It is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience. You won’t regret. So close to the Vineyards, Luchenbach and Fredericksburg. Book it! You will make a memory you wont forget!

Stayed here before, several years ago. This property seems to be under new management/ownership since the last stay. It is headed downhill. We could not even enter the lobby for checkin. Had to handled through the "night window" at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The only good thing about it is it is pet friendly. For $200+ for one night, not worth it. We will not be staying here again.

A perfect quiet getaway

Reviewed By gg_sophia

This place is a true getaway. We are so glad we found it. There are individual cabins (not B and B) separate from each other on a rural property. It is absolutely quiet and peaceful. We felt like we recharged ourselves by coming here. The cabins are well stocked with basic food including ready to heat breakfast. Different cabins have slightly different amenities. The property is a few miles away from the nearest restaurant. We picked breakfast and lunch sandwiches from Fresh Pickens to enjoy on the porch. There are a couple of animals who stop by for petting. Things to do in the area - Wildseed farm winery, Becker estate vineyard (better than the wine tasting on Main Street), dinner at Hill and Vine, Italian wine tasting on Main Street.

Willkommen to our romantic B&B in the Texas Wine Country. Embedded in a nice garden setting, the two cottages Rapunzel and Rumpelstilzchen are reminders of old Germanic dwellings from the early middle ages. Downstairs, in each cottage, you'll find a cozy living room, a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom and another bedroom in the loft. An old spinning wheel in the loft of Rumpelstilzchen challenges you to explore this ancient art. A collection of fascinating fairy paintings created by the hostess greets you in Rapunzel. You can relax at the pond, feed the goldfish and listen to the frogs chanting to the sound of the waterfall. Sip a glass of wine on the small patio in front of the cottages or on the big patio next to the main house. Enjoy a fire in the fire pit in the back of the property by the creek or in the gorgeous fireplace at the big patio. If you are restless or hungry, a 10 minute drive carries you to Fredericksburg with all it's shopping and activities. With 15 wineries within a three miles radius this is the perfect starting point for your wine tour. Upon returning you'll realize, you are close enough to Luckenbach to hear their concerts. And you can look forward to a rich, hearty German breakfast every morning served by the German innkeepers. You'll love this enchanting B&B, but you will not be able to remember it's terrible name Rarumpelpunzeldornaschenwittchen ...

This charming B & B is about 7 miles east of Fredericksburg in a semi rural setting. Cottages feature fairy tale appearance inside and out. Henry and Barbara are excellent hosts. Granddaughter, 9, loved it. Saw hummingbirds, lightening bugs and cardinals. It was restful for parents and grandparents while child could explore the large yard with 2 swings.. Stayed 10 days and hated to leave.

QUIET & WARM

Reviewed By Ron M

They serve a European Styled Breakfast served in a Picnic Basket delivered to your Door every morning. Each Breakfast was good and we ate in the Kitchen. Wish it was Fresh Made Breakfast & Served Hot instead of the European Styled Breakfast. Check out the Pictures of some pretty good stuff. Nice-N-Quiet B&B. We stayed in the 'Treehouse' room and it was BIG, plenty of room with a Great View of the Property. Big Walk-In Closet and a good size Shower. Problem was with 18 windows in the room, the AC was not enough to cool it down - that and the possibility of the room not being insulated properly. Thank goodness it wasn't overly hot during our stay because the outside weather determines the coolness or warmth in the room. Arrived at 2, it was 80 in the room. With the AC on it finally cooled down to 74 the next day. For a B&B this is Not Acceptable. We acquired a fan to help cool it down and the fan would stop at times and you have to hit it to keep in going. At least at night it was tolerable and we were able to sleep - it was quiet. Our Friends stayed in the other rooms and their AC worked - and it was quiet. The Property offers a 'Happy Hour' on Friday at the Main House area on their Covered Porch. We Like Happy Hour. Went over at 3:30 when it started and they have a sign up showing the prices of their Wine, Drinks, etc. Not going to pay $5 for a small glass of Wine when they promote it a lot by saying 'Come join us for Happy Hour on Fridays'. Staff were really nice and we did have a quiet stay - and not around that much during they day when the room was WARM.
