La Marmite

Small restaurant; booking recommended. Food and presentation very good. Salad starters amazing; beware they are large portions. Good value fixed priced menu. Friendly staff; some English spoken. Good parking outside. Don’t let the parade of shops put you off. This is a little gem.

We loved this place, eating here three times during our weeks stay in Alenya. The menu is mostly tapas and sharing plates but they also have a fantastic steak and dish of the day. Staff don't speak much English which seems quite common in the area (it isn't a very touristy village) but they are very friendly and welcoming and made an effort to chat and entertain everyone. They are clearly very popular with the locals, nearly all tables were reserved on the Saturday night and everyone seemed to know the owners well so we were lucky to get a table! The food is simple and delicious, good value for money (10euros for a jug of house wine!) with a cosy cafe type atmosphere. I'd highly recommend eating lunch or dinner here if you are staying in the area.

La Trencadis

As per mguven's review of 11/11/14, this is like no other restaurant you've been to. You really do have to sit back and go with the flow. Sounds a bit odd, and it was, but the most important thing is that the food and wine were terrific. The dog is a character - he loves cheese!Thank you Keith

Le Globe

We visited here as we were staying nearby and it was said to be vegetarian friendly on tripadvisor; whereas the other three restaurants at this location did not seem to be at all. It's a bizarre setting for a high quality restaurant, in the middle of an un-finished commercial estate / holiday resort - it seems to be one of those locations where investment didn't materialise. It was a Friday night and it was very empty, which was eerie but the waitress came to us and, although she had little English and we had a reasonable amount of French, there were still some things lost in translation, such as me saying I was vegetarian and the resulting Goat's Cheese Salad came with bacon on it.The service was slow but it was good value and the Chef, who was possibly also the owner, was very attentive and well mannered, checking our food was in order and even getting stuck in to moving tables around when a group arrived that wanted to sit outside and there wasn't anywhere ready for them.
