Folly Beach Hotels | Places to Stay in Folly Beach

July 27, 2022 Kaleigh Reichenbach

A barrier island where you can see loggerhead turtles nesting, dolphins playing and bald eagles soaring in the sky, Folly Beach offers a kick-off-your-shoes beach lifestyle where the livin’ is easy and the fish always seem to be biting. All of the beaches on Folly Island are superb, but, arguably the Folly Beach County Park, at the island’s west end, is perhaps the best with amenities like 2,500 feet of ocean frontage, picnic areas and boogie board, bicycle, umbrella and chair rentals available between Labor Day and Memorial Day. “Drop a line” is a common local saying and for good reason. Anglers can select from surf fishing, river fishing, pier fishing and deep-sea fishing. Head to the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, which is 24 feet wide extending more then 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, making it perfect for fishing, strolling and bird and dolphin watching. For adventurous types, you can kayak around Folly Beach and James Island, jet ski, parasail or ride a bicycle along Folly’s six mile of beachfront.

Tides Folly Beach

Only nine miles from historic downtown Charleston, Tides Folly Beach is located along one of south's most beautiful beaches, offering breathtaking views and a laid back vibe. Tides is the ideal destination for your next Charleston beach vacation, wedding or get-together with friends, family or business associates.

I would not stay here again.

The price of this motel is based on location only. There wasn’t any form of housekeeping and we had to get our own towels every day. Upon arrival we had 3 towels for 4 people. The bedding was terrible, rough, thin, and stained. The ac blows in the persons face who has to sleep on that side of the room. There is a tiny pool. The beach chairs are expensive to rent. There are not any servers to the pool or beach. I would not stay here again at this price point for the lack of overall amenities. The beach and town are nice. Definitely a 3 star motel with a 5 star price.

This place is brand-spanking new down to the last detail from the floors and furniture to the appliances and decor. They thought of everything from extra towel hooks both inside and out to keyless entry. Their above ground pool is made from a shipping container and has a see-thru side panel for picture-taking fun!

Nice B&B

Personable, helpful staff. Rooms were nice. Provided snacks and drinks all day. Close to the beach, it was about a 5 minute walk, and they still offered to drive us in golf cart to and from the beach. It had a nice key west vibe.

Clean, but needs some updating

Reviewed By jbrenz

It’s under new management and they need some help. It served our needs for one night, but the rooms are outdated and small. Definitely needs updating, but Danielle the housekeeper was great. She knows her stuff and was very attentive to all our needs. The room was clean, with very minimal and basic amenities, but it was ok. The new owner and the management company need to communicate and get their stuff together because when you check out, you do expect to get a receipt for charges and know what you paid for the night. You don’t expect to have to walk to another location to a management company and ask them to print you a receipt.
