It is part of the North Port–Bradenton–Sarasota Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was originally developed by General Development Corporation as the northern or Sarasota County part of its Port Charlotte development. GDC dubbed it North Port Charlotte, and it was incorporated under that name through a special act of the Florida Legislature in 1959. By referendum in 1974 the city's residents approved a change to simply North Port to proclaim its separate identity.

Donato's Pasta Plus Italian

At best, the dinner was OK. My wife asked for Pesce Piccata, gluten free pasta and the soup without pasta (gluten free). When he entree came, she noticed if was lightly powdered with flour. She returned the dinner --- and our server mentioned that she stated gluten free but the domcputer did not register that in the kitchen. Regardless, her entree took another 15 minutes about the time we finished (the other three of us). This appeared to be the fault of the kitchen staff but as she spent the fifteen minutes eating more of the pasta than she wanted, she barley touched her entree. The other three dinners were good but when you join a couple for an evening at dinner, you expect better.

Saturday night was rainy and we figured we would have a long wait for take-out but we didn't feel much like cooking so we dialed their number. Ordered a pizza and was told it'd be ready in 15-20 minutes! We were so surprised! My husband went to pick it up (I was under the weather - literally and figuratively) and promptly returned. Again, I was surprised. The pizza wasn't only visually lovely but it tasted great! The crust was just the right thinness without being cracker thin and had a great chew. We ordered pepperoni, mushrooms and black olives and they added a generous amount of each. Most places skimp on mushrooms but Zio's Twelve 21 added a larger amount than I've ever seen! Nice folks. I hadn't written my review yet so I stopped in after grocery shopping the other day to let them know how much we enjoyed it and the owner and young lady working couldn't have been more kind. Can't wait to go back!

We Like their thin crust pizza, light sauce,1/2pepperoni and 1/2 sausage, so we can share, at it will will always be good. Their garden salad we have have shared in past was good also. Stick to the pizza in this outfit and you will be fine!

A Taste of Italy

We were looking for something simple but tasty for our last night in Venice and we found the Taste of Italy. We had a great evening! The service was perfect. We had a baked brie appetizer and a wood fired pizza, both were great! The only sour note was an adjoining table. A server mistakenly brought her order to our table and I could hear berating the staff member for the mistake, in part because we breathed on it! The irony is that she was hacking through the meal! Lol.

Michelangelo's Pizza

Stopped in for lunch. My husband & I both had one of the lunch specials. I had the Lasagna and salad. The waitress asked what kind of salad dressing, I said honey mustard. My husband had the spaghetti and meatball with salad. He ordered ranch dressing. Both meals were good and enough for a lunch portion. When the bill came both lunches were $.75 more. When I asked why the up charge the waitress said because we did not have the house dressing. She never told us that any other dressing other then the house would have an up-charge. It is only .75 cents but she should have told us. We will be back as the special are good.

As a small business owner, business owners insensitive to the needs of their customers, especially handicapped individuals, infuriate me. Admittedly, until you travel with someone in a wheelchair, you really can’t have any idea of their daily challenges. So this just happened ....Arrived at restaurant and a vehicle was parked in the hatched parking space next to the vacant handicapped space at the entrance to the building. Thus we were unable to park in That spot because there was not enough clearance to put the wheelchair ramp in the van down. It really ticked us off so Ed called the police who apparently came and told the owner that we had called in a complaint. After a delicious meal and great entertainment, the owner confronted Ed on the way out. Turns out, it was the OWNER who was illegally parked. His response was that he has “always parked in that space and will continue to do so.” We were taken aback by his hostile approach, and entitlement to this hatched space. Despite our simplistic statement that “the vehicle is parked illegally”, he didn’t get that we shouldn’t have to ask the owner to move his illegally parked vehicle to accommodate his customers— besides Larry, there were at least two others in the restaurant with mobility challenges, so the owner’s insensitivity was surely not personally directed toward us but disappointingly to all customers. We’ve enjoyed coming to this restaurant for over 8 years, but tonight will be our last, along with the last for those with us tonight and more than likely dozens of friends and family members who have joined us over the years. Summarily, if you want a good meal and friendly, fun service, go there. But if you also want to support a local business owner who cares about his customers, go somewhere else.Wow, Ladies and Gentlemen, after so much time this person spent here and no word of good review,...finally this gentlemen took his time .. to actually post a bad review ! I have to respond instead of relaxing after a hard day of work because apparently this person can`t sleep at night because my car is parked in front of my own business! Here is my response:I would start by thanking to all my Beautiful and great customers that many of them are handicap and or veterans that had NEVER ever had problems of parking ,neither getting in or out of the car, So how dare you talk in the name of many ??We have 3 ramps to the whole building and fully accessible unrestricted, plenty space.Responding to this gentleman complain:; He is NOT a handicap person nor his wife and apparently must have a personal problem with me that i do not know about because the parking space that he complains ( his favorite probably ) was taken by another handicap vehicle that busy night ! He called the Police while in my restaurant and the Officer responded and informed him that the place where my car is parked is NOT a parking space and i`m not parked in the designated handicap space and ramp fully accessible and plenty space!Well, seems that the officer response is not enough to satisfy this man and his Ego is to the sky trying to ...discipline me by complaining every day .?I simply do not understand if he`s not happy and not coming here ever again and not supporting local business ... what exactly are up to ?? Is done ..forget about it ! Move on ! He told me " to park my car in the bushes across the street" !, now i understand i have plenty respect towards my great customers but do this person have any respect for Business Owner or Businesses in general or just walk around creating problems out of thin air ? I even offered if ever necessary to ,if he needed park i will move my car but seems that nothing makes him happy !Well, I`m happy that he`s not bulling me anymore ! i hope he finds his place...somewhere .Thanks for your Final review !.

We have ordered twice through a third party and Alvaros left out half the order. We called them and they did not even offer to fix the order. Their explanation was that they did not key the order in. They did not apologize either. They should not allow third parties to deliver their food if they can't complete the orders.
