I travelled alone with my 2 kids and felt super supported by the hotel staff. The kids club is just wow, the restaurant food adapted for children, the spa which has both adult and kids schedules, the bus service... seriously, just perfect for a relaxing week where we didnt need to think of anything except being together and enjoying.

Nice hotel, nice rooms, parking nearby. Just found the whole experience there with the staff so slow. you'd finish your meal or drink and then just wait to be refreshed or served. Might of been the language barrier but the lady in the breakfast was in my opinion rude,

Uch in the way of good restaurants in or around the hotel. Car parking was on the road and on the waterfront. There is a casino 200 meters and an italien. restaurant on the door step of the hotel. It's small and more boutique type. Om for a night but good location if you are driving from Geneva (1.45mins and go on further 1 hour and you are in montreux, switzerland.

Nothing special but acceptable

We spent just a night in Hotel Continental. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast acceptable in a very nice room. The position is excellent, in the center of the town, close to everything. The Hotel does not offer services or spaces that would make me willing to spend a holiday here, but the value for money is really good and spending a period of 2-3 days maximum is worth the stay.

This is an honest two star place to stay in Evian

Reviewed By RanDS232

We stayed as a family the hotel is dated and could easily become a 3 or 4 star with investment. Excellent location in central Evian and reasonably priced large garage is offered to guests. So very convenient if you need to stay in central Evian. The proprietor is incredibly nice and welcoming he literally cannot do enough for you. Don't be put off by the dated decor. This is a two star and the price is adequate for what it is. Take the breakfast it is worth it! Very fresh ingredients great local cheeses and again proprietor serving so nicely to his guests there.

Great hard product but the soft product needs work

Reviewed By IntlTraveller21stc

The location of the property in an elevated position above Evian-les-Bains makes for spectacular views from most of the guest bedrooms and public areas. The hotel itself has been relatively recently refurbished so there is a very pleasing mix of the original furniture, fixtures and fittings married with 21st century additions. Check-in was smooth and we were greeted by the duty manager, although we never saw them again during our stay. We were kindly upgraded which is always an extra pleasant way to start one's stay. The room itself felt spacious and the amenities were good. Interestingly, for a property that was so recently overhauled, there was quite a lot of audible noise from neighbouring rooms, and not because our neighbours were being particularly loud. The minibar also had a very audible hum, which was so loud that we had to ask for it to be turned off overnight to enable us to sleep. This property now has the distincition of being the first one in well over a decade of Leaders Club membership, not to have provided a Leaders Club welcome note and gift, there was absolutely nothing. The spa area is a nice addition and the thermal circuit is quite fun, although for us the novelty wore off quite quickly and we only used it once during our three night stay. The pool area is lovely with spectacular views over the town and the lake beyond. When one stays in a great hotel, one usually forms some connection to the place through the service, the F&B offering, etc. whereas here it felt totally impersonal for the entire stay. The staff are largely young and the more senior ones never made the effort to really interact with us during our stay. The food and beverage offerings here are not worthy of a Palace rated property in France. The 1* restaurant, Les Fresques (see separate review) was diabolical and certainly not worthy of its star at all. Breakfast was better, and there was a wide variety of product available, although when I ordered an omelette it arrived completely brown on the outside; not being able to have an omelette correctly made in France is an embarassment. Room service was another letdown - an item was forgotten from a dish, and perhaps worse than that, the bread that accompanied the meal was reheated from frozen. A hotel of this calibre should at least have all of their bread made exclusively for them by a local bakery, if they don't want to bring it in house. Worse than that, their "fish special of the day" (which they couldn't communicate to me until 7pm, which is bizarre as clearly it wasn't the "catch of the day") was grilled prawns. When I enquired where the prawns were from, I was told that it was the Indian Ocean. This is in France, where there are plenty of great prawns available from places far closer than the Indian Ocean. Frozen prawns in a Palace hotel in France? Really? Finally, when I went to check out, my bill had the completely incorrect room rate, despite it having been booked online. Sure, mistakes do happen, but it just shows the lack of attention to detail that a bill that was so obviously wrong was presented to me. When we left, this is probably the first hotel that I've stayed at for a long time where some water, or other refreshment for our journey was not offered. The entire stay felt totally impersonal, coupled with seriously below par food, and pretty average service so I've got no inclination to return. In fact, I regret not staying at another Leading Hotel on the Swiss side of the lake where I now know the whole offering would have been significantly stronger. Other than the nice rooms, aspects and facilities, there's little to recommend this place.
