Hvelvet restaurant

I've dined here twice and was very satisfied and impressed both times. There are not too many menu choices, which allows the kitchen to concentrate on top quality and efficiency, even when there are a lot of customers. The recipes are not really creative, but not oversimplified, either, with some nicely subtle sauces and condiments. The room is unfortunately noisy when crowded, with guests' conversations accompanied by a muffled rock beat. Decor is dark, rustic, and open, rather than romantic or cozy.

The Leseriet cafe is located in central Lillehammer in the same building and with access to Lillehammer public library. They offer good basic dishes and have a lot of newspapers available for your reading enjoyment. As they have an additional entrance directly to the library lobby, you have the chance to pick up a book and to enjoy it with fresh coffee and some snacky food.
