A place to chill, literally
Reviewed By Liew TBefore u read my review, I wanted to remind you it is a jail themed hostel. There were some imperfections that is resemblance of a jail such as privacy. The hostel was 3 minute walk away from the main Street and the Beach. I loved this hostel for the chill vibe in the common area and how they designed the place. It was super welcoming and felt like home. They have a working kitchen and snacks up for grab. The backyard porch is the best as it is very cooling from the scorching heat of Taiwan. Highly recommend for a place to stay in dulan.

Jacarandahouse is located on the most beautiful East Coast of Taiwan, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Every rooms have the beautiful sea view. You will see the sun rise and moon rise from the sea. If the weather is fine you will see many stars in the sky. The hotel not only have comfortable large bedroom but also dry and wet separation bathroom. Everyday we will prepare very good tasting breakfast.

Reviewed By alexisgracelimLet’s start with the room - We were upgraded (for free) to a room facing the Pacific Ocean on the second floor. Room was spacious, with a large couch, and very clean. We noticed that there were slippers in every section of the room (bedroom, toilet and balcony). The staff would refill complementary packs of biscuits and instant noodles every day. Hot, drinkable water was provided, without fail, every day, in a flask, and we thought it was a very thoughtful act of service. The bathroom was also very spacious and had both a shower and a bath tub. There were large windows so we could shower with a lovely view of the ocean every day!! Loved the lingering light jasmine fragrance in the bathroom as well. Bed was large and comfortable. I had the best sleep I’ve had in months!! A 4 course home cooked breakfast comprising of a soup, salad, main and yogurt dessert as well as a drink is provided from 8 am - 10 am every day. It was nutritious and very hearty. The owner and his staff were approachable, helpful and kind towards us. We missed a public bus once and all of them immediately whipped out their phones to search for other available options for us. The owner also kept asking us if we needed help with activities and he took to driving us to Taitung City when we had an available last afternoon in Donghe. We would recommend that you drive or rent a scooter as that would give you more flexibility to travel around. However, if you are like us, there are public buses and the bus stop is just 100m away. You just need to ask the very friendly staff for the bus timings. 7-11 is also located about 200m away. In terms of food, there are a couple of eateries around. The owner will be more than happy to recommend them to you. The only drawback about this place is the intermittent wifi which can be resolved by disconnecting/connecting repeatedly or if you get your own data plan. Overall, a superb experience. We are already planning to come back next year!

Come to Dulan to change your world. If you walking into a hostel and just for a bed to sleep,don't you think that is too boring? Changing stories is my original intention to own a hostel. If you are a chatterbox just like me,I'm waiting you guys at The Travel Bug. The Travel Bug is on the main street of Dulan. the bus stop is just a 3 min walk away. We have a darts bar at first floor playing rock 'n' roll music. Sometimes we even have live music shows. The furniture of the bar is handmade by driftwood set in a comfortable light to create an atmosphere to escape the urban jungle. The location is very convenient because both 7-11 and the Sugar Factory is just a minute away.We provide scooter rental service if you want to explore the surroundings by yourself. if you are a surfer, it's just to walk about 15 minutes to get to Dulan Beach.

Amazing stay
Reviewed By Kelly HThis is our second time to be here. We love the location of the place, you get fabulous views from the balcony. To sit and relax on the chairs is just the best thing to do after driving around the whole day. The sunrise is breathtaking as well. Breakfast is soooooo good! Everything homemade and delicious! The host and his family are kind and friendly. We really enjoy it here and recommend to people who love the nature and quietness.

Cool hostel
Reviewed By Caro GI didn't plan to stay in this village. I just got off the bus and looked for a room. I found the Backpacker Dog just appealing and took a room there. It is a cosy, very pretty and stylish decorated, and spotless maintained property. Guest can cook their dishes and make tea or coffee but there was not food on offer when I visited. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It has only one toilet/bathroom for all guests and the managing couple.

Clearly geared toward long-termers and not the casual visitor
Reviewed By Richjames85The building itself is decent, but a lack of facilities (only 2 showers/toilets for the whole building) and a generally poor standard of hygiene let the place down. The rooftop terrace and general common area are fine, but not remarkable. Breakfast was processed bread and jam, nothing more. Also, 100TND to a rent a towel was pretty ridiculous. The main issue is the staff/long-term travellers. I was unsure who actually worked there and who was a 'long term' stayer. It was confusing to know who to ask questions to, and for someone who only stayed there a few nights it came across as a little unwelcoming. There appeared to be a BBQ happening in the hostel one night - but it was obvious that I was not invited and it was unclear whether this was for staff, long-termers or what. Staff were not particularly helpful when I asked for the trailhead to a popular hiking route and I was told to "just google it" and the the bar was closed all week, so I was told to just go to 7-11 and buy drinks there. If you're planning to stay for an extended duration, this may be the place for you - but for a casual visitor coming for a night or two there are far better places.

Reviewed By CDNGThe room is basic countryside B&B. Linen/towels are clean. Full set of bathroom amenities and good quality coffee/tea bags & mineral water provided. Breakfast is high quality and very well made. The big grass patch, pond and ocean view are very pleasant surprises.

Reviewed By Yi W雖然住民宿的經驗不多，但能夠讓我再次造訪一定有它的過人之處！ 闆娘雅玲姐不但風趣健談，烹廚手藝更是了得，來這兒不試試她的無國界早午餐會讓人搥心肝啊！ 店狗芋圓更是攬客高手，光看牠骨ㄌㄨˋ ㄌㄨˋ無辜又憨厚的眼神，再怎麼鐵石心腸的人應該也都會被溶化ㄅ⋯ 下回經過東河，不要只是吃顆肉包，落花鉎背包客棧是值得讓自己停下腳步過一宿的好地方喲！?
