Unusual but nice
Reviewed By John RThis is a lovely location on the bank of a river within a short walk to the local village although the lively part of the village is the far side, about 750 meters. To be honest it is more like a riverside cafe with rooms than a hotel but it's clean and tidy. No lift but to my knowledge only one floor up to the rooms. We didn't have breakfast so I cannot comment. Parking is in a private car park close to the hotel. The lounge area is small and basic and the cafe/restaurant is outside, we ate at the cafe and found the meal good in both quality and value for money as was the hotel.

Reviewed By avidCornwallStayed here for two nights on route to the Dordogne and one night on the way back. We were shocked on our return to be faced with a bill for drinks they said we do not pay on the first visit !! We paid as we left on our first visit what they billed us for and it seemed about right and we thought no more of it indeed we did not even keep the bill as we were satisfied with what we paid. Apart from this the Hotel is alright the owner who was there occasionally could never find it with in himself to engage with us and it was left to the young girls serving to show some hospitality only a couple of them really succeeding. The food was ok and as we were Demi Pension which normally means good local food here it consisted of a plate full of an individual vegetables ie either just carrots or just green beans plus either a lump of fish or meat plonked on top. Rooms were reasonably clean albeit very noisy and although we returned it was only because we could not be bothered to search for somewhere else. So in summing up we would say it's alright there will be a lot worse out there but from experience we know there are a lot lot more that are better.This place lacks someone giving direction and motivation to the staff.

Reviewed By Debbie EWhat a charming little gem this is. Beautifully decorated light and spacious room with an ensuite bath/shower room. Also communal showerroom/toilet across the hall. The bed ws really comfortable and there was a clever little airconditioning unit in the corner of the room that was quiet and kept the room at a great temperature to allow sleeping in this hot weather. It is run by a lovely couple who live there and provided a delicious continental breakfast on the terrace in the morning. The home-made jams were fabulous.

Reviewed By tighearnanA really beautifully restored old house owned by a charming young couple. The husband is a carpenter by trade and much of the interior has been hand made. There is even a wooden bath tub in one of the rooms if you are lucky enough to get it! The interior is really beautifully finished and the rooms large and comfortably furnished. A very quiet location.....was woken by the cockrel!! Free parking. Even though the weather was hot, the interior was very comfortable due to the thick stone walls and excellent insulation. Breakfast is delicious!! Hotel is close to the incredible theme park Puy de Fou and not far from the Futuroscope park.......HIGHLY recommend!!

Basic hotel, restaurant is a winner!
Reviewed By TheMysteriousOneThis hotel is the kind of hotel you would expect to see in small towns and villages. As there isn't much thoroughfare, it isn't going to be all bells and whistles. This is proven by the fact that the hotel restaurant does not open on a Monday evening due to lack of custom. Room is very basic but expected. Decent in size but the bathroom is compromised for this. Nothing really inspiring me about the room. Very small TV. No drink making facility or iron in the room. Need to get one from the reception. The bed is not bad from a sleep perspective. Not uncomfortable but not amazing. I managed to get some sleep but it did feel like I was getting bitten about the place. The rooms at the back of the hotel has some nice views on good weather and is away from the main road. Separate toilet to the bathroom with no washing facilities in the toilet which is a no no for me. The bathroom is very tiny and feels restricted. The shower was decent in power and warmth. Towels were thin and tiny! When you get to the restaurant side of things it is much improved! Nice decor and sitting area and can also sit outside and enjoy the view and sunset from the terrace. The food i couldn't find any complaints about. Well cooked, well seasoned and tasted great. Shame they are closed on Mondays. The opposite is said for breakfast as options are very limited here. Light continental breakfast is your only option and coffee was very bitter. The staff are friendly and polite and helpful although their English was not great. This would've received two stars if not for the restaurant and food which has raised it a star. Well worth coming here for the food and sunsets if in the neighbourhood.

Our hosts Charles Henri and Sophie, were welcoming, charming and so enthusiastic about the chateau, we even received a guided tour. We have decided to return to the chateau when we are next in France, but for more time than or one night stopover. What a find!

Very comfortable rooms with all you need topped off with a splendid breakfast with an excellent selection. This is a very high standard chambre d'hôte which will not disappoint.
