We were allocated Room 1, parking directly in front. Spacious, clean, basic but comfortable amenities, kitchen utensils supplied and with extras available from Reception if needed. Very friendly welcome from energetic owner. Great value tariff. As we arrived early, we were able to leave our luggage in the room and head the couple of km into town and enjoy a snack, view some of the local attractions and let my wife have some shopping therapy. Definitely recommend a mountain view room.

The surrounding district provides a number of rides suited to all cycling capabilities. We can provide you with secure storage for your bike and recommendations as to where to ride. All rooms have been refurbished with a light feel and are found on the first and second floor of the hotel.
The location was outstanding. My partner and I love old pubs and we found this place absolutely amazing! The room was great, everything was perfectly clean and tidied up. We had dinner at the pub, the food was great and the staff was very friendly and kind.

The Deloraine Hotel was built in 1848 and has been running as a public house since that time. We offer restaurant quality meals, with an emphasis on using local produce to produce pub classics. We have Gaming facilities, with 20 Gaming Machines and TasKeno, along with TAB Tote facilities. Our major refurbishment of the Accommodation area has recently been completed, with 16 rooms including single, double and family rooms. New bathrooms, new guest lounge with TV, Microwave, Fridge and Dishwasher, along with a coin operated guest laundry - all modern facilities but keeping the timeless style of the grand old Deloraine Hotel
I took my wife up there last night for her birthday dinner. Great old pub with loads of atmosphere, great barmaid and waitress, and pretty good pork belly dinner. Sadly there were 2 couples around the 30-ish mark at a nearby table in the dining room, and one of them (with short beard, cap and sunnies on head) had a loud, foul mouth. Other patrons were visibly offended, but no-one said anything for fear of reprisals. His companions and the waitress ignored him, even after some patrons asked to be relocated to the next room. We ate and departed as quick as we could, and escaped to the gaming room. Unfortunately "foul mouth" and a few of his younger mates joined us there and continued their performance, including loud, guttural belching. We finished up and left, vowing never to return to this venue! Where was the publican?

What a wonderful property with a unique history. It has been lovingly restored to its past glory with extensive gardens, wonderful rooms and great share spaces. Our host was engaging, accommodating and enthusiastic to share this property. It’s a must stay and a great stop between the north west and Hobart.

Birdwing B&B was such a serene setting and a cozy stay. It felt so remote although it isn't far from busier towns such as Devonport, Sheffield or Deloraine. The cottage was homey and quaint and the bed was very comfortable! The bed looks out into a picturesque waterside view. It was such a pleasant surprise when we walked in. The breakfasts were delicious with many homegrown or locally sourced ingredients. The snacks were delicious and topped up if running low. They had a nice selection of teas and a pod machine for coffee. The cottage was very spacious and the heaters were very effective. The lounge area is quite large so we were able to spread out our belongings. The most memorable part of our stay was getting to know the hosts, Annie & Fritz. They were both so helpful, warm, genuine, compassionate and hospitable. We loved our chats and feel grateful for getting to know them. This was such a lovely retreat and we will definitely be recommending this to our friends and family planning a Tasmania trip in the area.
