Big comfortable rooms and great location

Great stay there as a family, service of chairs to beach via golf cart, walking to shopping and restaurants, never took the car out. The room was big and comfortable, beautiful bathroom area with big shower.

Eloquence and class

Reviewed By Richard_197409

I'm grateful that hotels like this do still exist. Hotel Du Pont obviously has high regards for "customer care". Most importantly to me, the rooms are impeccably clean. This is huge in my book. Secondly, the staff is kind, courteous, and attentive. We needed sheets for the pullout - door rang in less than 10 minutes. The comfort and the quality of the furniture, mattress and sheets - high. Similar to ritz c. The hotel and some furnishings may be old, but it's not old in a broken/dusty/worn way. It's old in an eloquent, "made-well" sort of way. I would highly refer this hotel.

Very Good for Wilmington, Average in general

This hotel is in a great location in this town (which is a rough place to visit). It is centrally located and near a rejuvenated part of the city, with a river overlook (at least from my room). The included breakfast was great, and everyone was friendly and polite. Hotel is located next to some very popular restaurants, which has its pos & neg. Hotel is right near a running/walking path along the river. My room had a lot of physical plant noises (fan motors and an HVAC system) and was quite musty and dank. King bed was comfortable, and the sitting areas were fine. Couldn't get the streaming service to work with the TV. If I HAD to return to Wilmington, I would stay again.

Great location, newer facility, could improve service and cleaning

Reviewed By RunwiththisMama

Great location, a couple of blocks away from a quiet beach. Great base of operations for beach and boardwalk time in either Bethany, Fenwick or OC. New facility built on a motel footprint, so it's not too overrun or busy. Convenient ground-floor parking, free in the off-season. Decent in-room HVAC and natural ventilation, balcony doors with screens. Not much of a view from the room unless perhaps you get a corner on the back of the building. Odd numbered rooms face the buildings behind the property, even numbered face the street. Outdoor pool (small but sunny) and rentable cruiser bikes (wobbly and sketchy but still fun). Cleaning and room presentation could use better CQ prior to new guest check-in -- our room came with small but noticeable issues (barn door on the bathroom=a door dinged heavily by the lock), spots on the couch and a throw pillow (ew), and cleaning staff appeared to sweep dirt and detritus out onto the hallway carpet as they cleaned rooms, to be vacuumed up later. In these days of short staffing, front desk service was hit-or-miss and not at the typical Hilton standard. Hopefully they hit their stride once travel and staffing return to pre-pandemic levels.

Hotel is beautiful and well kept. Restaurant has a nice menu. We've had burgers, entrees, and salads all delicious. Example: you don't get those white ends in your Caesar salad just nice pieces of romaine.

Average hotel- good for one night

Reviewed By RussoKa

We stayed at this hotel based on reviews and because of its proximity to UD for graduation weekend. Hotel rates were increased everywhere, so we felt the value wasn't worth it. The location of the hotel is convenient--right off 95 and a few miles to campus. The hotel was clean and fairly comfortable. The rooms were tiny and had a musty feel. The bathrooms were clean, but small. The temperature control wasn't always working well. The breakfast could have used more healthy options, such as Greek yogurt and more seasonal fresh fruit. The breakfast area was clean. The "fitness center" was a complete joke. The hotel shouldn't advertise it as an amenity. One treadmill, one non-functioning elliptical, and one broken down and dangerous universal do not constitute a fitness center. It is a liability. We've traveled to many hotels that have much better and well-maintained facilities. This hotel is adequate for a one-night stay

Clean Nice Hotel

Reviewed By Deborah H

We had a very clean, comfortable room, but it was on the smaller side from other Hampton Inn's we have stayed in over the years. The front desk staff was very nice. We were planning on staying 3 nights. Unfortunately, the impending rain with gale winds that was approaching the eastern seaboard caused us to leave after one night. The hotel manager was very kind and did not charge for the 2 extra night's stay. Our room faced the Ocean Highway side, so it was a bit noisier than I expected.

Better options

Reviewed By DanK229

Stay was fine but had way higher expectations for being a DoubleTree Hilton brand. Staff was extremely friendly however the rooms were very very small with one of the tiniest hotel bathrooms I've ever seen with the Hiltons. Cleanliness was probably my biggest factor as everything from the hallway floors to the elevator having crusted up discolored buttons, penises carved out on the elevator panel, rooms were bit dirty & you can tell they don't clean under the mattress or behind the bed well as tons of dust was caked on & debris/trash. Only reason I didn't request another room was due to the late check-in we had would have been to much of a pain to swap out that late. The positives were besides the friendly staff, shower pressure was FANTASTIC & location of the property.
