Excellent choice for lunch with friends at a barbecue restaurant. Menu was very extensive, service was outstanding and food was very good. Will definitely go back and highly recommend to others.

Billy Joe's is located on the bank of the Hudson River in the middle of Newburgh's older section. The building is a large, brick, turn of the 20th century ice house that has been retrofitted with several large overhead doors, with transparent panels, that look out onto a large patio on the waterfront. The building's inside is mostly an open floor plan that could probably accommodate several thousand people on summer weekends when the building is really busy.During our visit on a cool, cloudy, October day, only about a 1/4 of the floor had customers so people were spread out. We were seated at the back, near the overhead doors and had a nice view of the ships passing by on the Hudson. We ordered the "Legend" burger, the steakhouse salad, and a mac 'n cheese with pork dish. The salad was very good, with a large portion of sliced brisket on top, and the Legend burger was huge, with sausage, brisket, pulled pork on top of a cheeseburger. The mac 'n cheese dish was also very large and very filling. Most portions would be OK for two people with moderate appetites.Service was very good, food came out quickly, and our sodas were promptly refilled. The manager even stopped by to check on us and told us about a motorcycle museum, located a couple miles away, as we commented about an old motorcycle mounted on one of the walls. All in all, it was an enjoyable lunch in a very memorable décor.

When we passed this restaurant the other day, we mentioned it was time for lunch so should stop somewhere to eat. So we turned around and headed back. What we were expecting as we walked up to steps to the front door was the usual BBQ restaurant, not fancy, just a few plain tables. We were pleasantly surprised to be standing in a very upscale BBQ restaurant with linen napkins and live entertainment.The menu was very nice, and I had BBQ chicken on a delicious roll, and my partner had the BBQ pulled pork. Both came with a choice of sides. My yams were delicious as was his green beans. They put some corn bread and butter on the table too. We decided to taste it, and it was soooooo yummy with a taste of pineapple in it. The food did not disappoint and was very juicy.The entertainment they had was two guys with guitars who sang a good amount of Simon and Garfunkel songs plus some country tunes too. They were excellent.It looks as though they plan on having primarily Jazz artists.For a BBQ place, it was just a bit pricey but not too bad considering you're being entertained while you eat.The place is roomy, clean and well decorated. My mom and I heard impressive reviews about this place. We had to check it out. We both had waffle and chicken dishes. The waffles were absolutely delicious. The texture and flavor were just perfect. The chicken was flavorful but the waffles were my favorite.This venue was comfortable and enjoyable. The prices are reasonable. I highly recommend a stop by.
