Outback Steakhouse

Reviewed By Cathleen C

I took four other people here for a celebratory dinner and we left very disappointed after spending over $200.00. Our server was very friendly and chatty but, could have come by the table more often. One steak ordered well done came rare and had to be sent back. I was still eating my dinner and the check landed on the table which surprised me. I commented that no one ordered coffee or dessert and the server said she already asked them and they all said no. That was not true; nobody was ever asked. I gave the server a credit card and three gift cards to pay the bill. After about ten minutes the server came to the table and said they were having trouble processing a gift card and had no idea how long it was going to take. Server came back a few minutes later and I showed her an email from my bank - a charge in the wrong amount went to credit card. The server told me not to worry about it, it would be reversed when they closed out the registers that night. She said she still didn't know how long it was going to take to process the bill. Two of us ordered glasses of wine and I said to the server, these should be comped because of all the money we spent, the error with the steak and all this time we are waiting for the bill. She said she'd tell the manager. The server returned with the wine and the bill for it. We had ample time to drink the wine before we could pay the bill. The $80.00 I was over charged was not credited back to my account until five days later. For all this aggravation the manager couldn't be bothered to come to the table to apologize or offer us a dessert? I was embarrassed because I was treating and chose the restaurant. A well intended gesture ended up aggravating and upsetting five people. Unprofessional management.

My dining experiences at home and travelling are usually excellent, Travel Advisor helps with that! This week we returned to a local favorite for the 1st time in a few months, and were very disappointed. Diners in general are very friendly spots, but our entrance was made with no staff in sight. We took a table near the far left, and it was a few minutes before a server appeared from the back, and a couple minutes later appeared at our table and took drink orders Two adjacent tables we're cluttered from prior customers, though ours was clean. She next returned with menus, no silverware. Our drinks were delivered, and our order taken, but it took awhile, despite a slow night. Next came a bowl of soup, our only appetizer. Awhile later our order appeared, but the 10 inch hot dog looked like it had been rolling around one of those gas station hot dog grills for hours, dark brown, long but thin, not appealing. Unfortunately my wife's 1st and only bite tasted like it looked. The Patty Melt burger was OK, a little thin, though advertised as a quarter pounder. Grilled cheese OK as well, fries were very good, and hot, and the server apologized for the hot dog. The offer to replace was declined. For the record, the only silverware were the soup spoon and I was given a spoon, I guess for the cole slaw. No knives or forks, though fingers worked for the fries. While we were eating, a small group arrive across from us, they had to ask for silverware when their food arrived, too. Later another group of teen girls arrived near us, and chose to the clean off their table, still that way from before we arrived, 75 minutes prior. Our server dropped off our bill, though it took another lengthy wait before she returned so I could ask her if the hot dog was staying, which was ok with me, it just would have been deducted anyway. BTW, that table the girls cleared was left that way when the previous group left without paying!! We've been going there for a very long time, but will not be returning for awhile. There are plenty of other diners and great spots around, though not with the nostalgia and history of Olympia!

The egg plant grinders at Steve’s are delicious. The customer service was beyond fantastic. Steve's is a great neighborhood restaurant to have a meal on your own, with friends, or family. I love all the vintage and present day photos of high school and professional sports teams. If you do not have the time to sit and have a meal, they offer it to take away. Great place for delicious food.

First time here for a business lunch. Tried the Connecticut Lobster Roll. I wouldn't have minded paying the twenty dollars if it was good, but the Lobster meat was tasteless. I would try something else if I was to dine there again. Also, the restrooms need attention to cleanliness.

We decided to try something new and TJs on Cedar was it. It was a pleasant surprise. Our waitress Naomi was great. I had the room burger without the rooms. I substituted roasted peppers instead. Cooked as requested was quite good. My wife had the shaved beef panini and the house made cold slaw. Very enjoyable and reasonably priced.

Four us us arrived at about 4:00 for Happy Hour. When we seated outdoors, the waitress brought dinner menus. We asked for and received happy hour menus. The selections were such that to satisfy your appetite, you needed to order two. The calimari was especially delicious as were the sliders. The drinks were good as was the service. Before departing, we took a look inside the old building an met the owner who was an very interesting and informative person. All in all, we will be going there in the future. Old Wethersfield is a beautiful area in Connecticut and worth a visit just to see the homes.

A true hidden gem if you in the mood to experiment. Unfortunately for some reason they have cash only policy…The waffles are the best and unique I have had for a long time, especially the southern chicken waffle with maple syrup.. Slurrpppppp…… haven’t tasted this before and loved the distinctive flavor of chicken waffle. The chicken was crispy and well-cooked and combo of maple syrup was dynamite…..So was the Chocolate lover- Nutella syrup…. Fabulous, my partner loved it and gobbled it in no time…Only disappointment was the hash brown/mash potatoes.. Everything else was exceptional. Will visit again to try other delicacies as well

First time to ever visit a Ruth Chris Steakhouse. Took my boyfriend there to celebrate his birthday. We ordered the fried calamari which was good, it had an spicy Asian infused flare to it. We ordered a cowboy ribeye (MW) and a boneless ribeye (M). Both steaks were clearly over cooked. We also ordered the mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and a ceasar salad. Mashed potatoes were creamy but nothing to rave about. The steaks were piping hot which I loved but other than the fact that the steak stayed hot through out the entire meal, there was nothing memorable about it. The service on the other hand was great! The entire staff that we had any interaction with was great! Everyone smiled, and acknowledged us. We sent his steak back because it was over cooked and it was out within minutes. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. They comped us a desert for over cooking his steak. We chose the cheesecake with fresh berries, which was very a delicious cheesecake. All in all it was a pleasant environment and the food was descent but definitely not worth the price. We have had comprable steaks at an Outback and Longhorn steakhouse for the fraction of the price.Hi Clm1079,We are sorry that both of your steaks were overcooked. We are glad you sent back your boyfriend's, but we would have gladly replaced yours as well. We know you have many choices of places to dine in our area, especially for steak, and we do hope you consider giving us another chance in the future.

We live in town and have heard great things about this restaurant so finally decided to give it a try. Came here Friday night around 5:30 and were able to get a table right away. The hostess was very pleasant as was our waitress. Our food arrived quickly but didn’t live up to our expectations. We liked that it was cut up into little cubes but other than that it was blah. My pasta with lamb was tasty but didn’t look very appealing. My husbands chicken dish was good. The Mac and cheese was our favorite. Overall it was an ok meal but maybe a bit pricey for the food/location. It’s nice to have a place like this in town but with so many other options around for us they would need to step up a bit.

The service was good there were seats available we didn’t have to wait in the handicap access was excellent. A young woman was saving two seats at the bar for friends, which really is nonsense. Bartenders didn’t want to interject.Thank you so much for visiting! I couldn't be happier to hear you enjoyed your dinner with us! I'm sorry if your experience was anything less than perfect in the bar area. Our bar is self-seating, and I apologize if that put a damper on your visit.
