The City-Hotel Ochsen is situated in the middle of the beautiful historic centre, 200 m from the lake of Zug and a 10 minutes walk from the train station. All rooms are air-conditioned and have an en-suite bathroom, a cable TV and a water kettle. Fine Swiss and international cuisine is served in the Hotel Ochsen's restaurant "au premier" and in our bar you can enjoy aromatic coffee or a cool glass of beer.

Reviewed By Fussy-eater-567I stayed at this beautiful hotel in May 2022. The hotel itself is beautiful. The interior tastefully decorated and the staff very attentive. I was in a single room which was fine. There was plenty of space for my clothes and a desk to work from. The shower was lovely. The only downsides: you could hear the toilets flushing in other rooms and my bed was particularly uncomfortable. In fairness I should have asked to change rooms which I’m sure the hotel would have facilitated. The price for a single room was slightly on the high side but this is Zug old town and the location of the hotel is very well situated. The station is a 10 mins walk away. Stay there again? Yes, but I would ask to see the room first and try the bed. That’s the only reason I’m rating this hotel 3 as opposed to 5. Had the bed been fine it would have been a 5 without any questions.

I’ve stayed here on two occasions and both stays were excellent. The staff are very helpful and amenable. A great serviceable hotel for a business stay. The station is a 10 mins walk. The breakfast is fine. Certainly looking forward to staying there again!

Reviewed By Marc VHotel is opposite the railway station. Vere nice and clean rooms. Very friendly and helpful people. Very good breakfast. There is a terrace outside to have a drink. Not very much to see in the town and it is about 3 km from the lake,

Decent stay in a lovely location

However you should be aware that it is situated out of town on the hills behind, so it is not convenient if you want to go into the city, for example to find somewhere to eat. The rooms were of a good size, clean and comfortable. One minor disappointment was the temperature of the water in the bathroom - just on the warm side of tepid. The restaurant served wholesome, uncomplicated meals. The breakfast was adequate at best - I have had much more generous breakfasts at 3 star hotels in Switzerland. The overall price for room and breakfast was reasonable by Swiss standards.

The right place for tired souls
Reviewed By RhodalitzkiOriginally or partly run by protestant nuns, this is the place to go if you just need to give body, soul and spirit a break. The (upper class with sea view) rooms are spacey enough, so are the bathrooms, with ample cupboard space. Only the shower is very small. The sea view is beautiful with enough possibilities to walk (or cycle). Everything is very clean, everyone friendly and ready to help, the rooms quiet. The Spa area is plain but well equipped, with a big (warm) pool, fitness area, saunas and whirlpool. Massages can be booked. They have their own "beach" access to the lake. The breakfast buffet is great, hot meals are good, especially the salad buffet and the soups. There is also a cafeteria which could do with a bit of improvement and one minus point is for their very expensive tea and hardly any wlan, except at the reception (maybe that's why there is such a big lounge ;0) This venue can also be used for conferences and weddings. If you like you can join the church services (church and nuns are next door) or get counseling. You can get to Ländli by train and bus, but then have to walk about 100m uphill unless you phone, then they drive down to pick you up. A lovely place to wind down!
