Located near the church in the very centre of Kerns, Rose embodies the typical Gasthaus. The wooden dining room boasts a warm and relaxed atmosphere - very ââgemütlichââ. Thumbs-up to the genuine hospitality - smiling, efficient, yet unobstrusive service. You really feel welcome as a guest. The menu puts focus on local produce and traditional Swiss specialties. As starter I chose mushrooms with gratinated cheese - delicate and tasty. Very local indeed: the mushrooms come from Kerns, the cheese from canton Obwalden. As main course I chose the house specialty: ââB Klarinettliââ which is a Cordon Bleu in the shape of a B clarinet. Chefâs idea - as he is playing that instrument! Large and truly delicious portion, the schnitzel was crispy without being greasy. As sweet I indulged myself with the Chef suggestion: ââPfeffererdbeerenââ i.e. pepper strawberries served with vanilla ice cream and a hint of balsamic vinegar: unconventional, yet wonderful (and flavourful) idea. You do not actually taste the pepper, it merely aims at enhancing the strawberries. Unfortunately Switzerland has always had a high price structure, and Gasthaus Rose is no exception. The bill amounted to CHF91; admittedly not to everyoneâs budget but it reflects the really good food and great service.

The Restaurant at Jugendstil Pax Montana hotel serves some great stuff. The views of the mountain valley from the hotel restaurant are just breathtaking. Wine and cocktails served were good as was the food. Service was excellent as well. The hotel guys served us with some sandwiches & quick bite when we arrived after closing time on one of the days.

No this is no joke! Raphi is the best we have. His dishes are delishes. His creations from starter all the way to the desserts are perfectly composed. The price is high but so is the level of service, hospitality and interior.

Nothing special quality wise. What ruined the experience was the waitress who, after taking orders ''Menu 1'' for two of our friends, all she brings is the main course of the menu. Our friends asks her what about the soup, and she said: you did not explicitly ask for it. Our friends were to nice and just ate the main without wanting to discuss any further. When the time comes to pay the bill, our friends ask for at a least a discount as the menu was not served in full. The waitress said, well i can bring you now the soup. Whether you had or not the soup, the price remains the same. No discount. In other words, she was absolutely completely against any discount, she took no credit for her messed up service.Had not yet had such an experience in a restaurant. So if it happens that you go, make sure when you order the Menu, to tell the waiters: BRING EVERYTHING THE MENU HAS, THE SOUP and THE SALAD etc.

The hotel-restaurant has a certain class, the terrace is nice, but our food was disappointing, certainly not worth the price. Service was friendly and efficient. Having the restrooms in the basement (which seems to have been designed as an army bunker) is an architectural mistake.

We stopped by at this cafe after we had climbed the Glaubenberg pass by bicycle. I found it a surprisingly nice cafe with a nice interior and many lovely details (flowers, napkins, etc.). The staff was very friendly, and the home-made ice tea tasted delicious. Only point that's less is that the cafe is situated along a quite busy street, as busy as streets can get in Sarnen at least. But for the rest I would certainly recommend this cafe!

Went to the Seefeld restaurant located bang on the shores of Lake Sarnen, next to the camping site. The plce has both outdoor and indoor seating arrangements. Initially, we took some beer & coffee and sat outside, enjoying the sunshine on the lake front. When it was supper time (like most restaurants, this one closes around 8pm too), we went inside and had pasta meals along with fries for dinner. The food was pretty good and bit pricey, but in line with other Swiss restaurants. Service could have been bit warmer though.Decent place to go when in Sarnen camping site

We ordered a couple of pizzas. They were quite nice and tasty. One pizza for one person is enough to have dinner. The service was quite fast and nice. The place itself was normal. On the other hand all pizzas were between 20 and 30 CHF, quite expensive compared to rest of Europe.

We had dinner at the Jordan on a Saturday evening without reservation, which is why we had to sit inside. Nevertheless, we had a very good dinner with Bruschetta and Egliknusperli. Though the interior would need a brush up we had a nice evening there. The only negative thing was that it took the waiter about 20-25 minutes to bring us the bill and let us pay. Still I would recommend this restaurant also for families with kids.

We had a single dish each, both quite good. Good and quick service, they could speak French (and probably also English) and translate the german-only menu. Dessert (meringue with whipped cream) not bad as well. A bit expensive, as all the restaurants in the area.
