A first time at this restaurant located in downtown Azuza. the interior was similar to a local eatery with several booths, a few tables and a great looking bar. The drinks were perfect and reasonable. The appetizer of flatbread cheese and steak for two was awesome and could have been an entire meal. We both ordered fish and chips and by the way the chips served beforehand were homemade. The meal was plentiful, the steak fries were good, the coleslaw a bit tasteless and the beer battered fish were slightly greasy. The fish was pure white and lots of it. This is a definite place to visit again. The service by Letty was also very good.

We had the 'A Hazing Grace' and 'Our Daily IPA'...both delicious! We also had the grilled artichoke with chipoltle mayo.....yummy!!! Service was wonderful as well. We loved the puns on the names of the beers and the decor of the place. Made for a very nice end to our visit to the San Gabriel Mountain.

We started off from Palmer House in Chicago for a Trafalgar Tour. In some parts we went over the original Route 66 & in other parts it was a normal motorway. We saw Abraham Lincoln's house on the way. Very neat & tidy. On to Pontiac which would be the most switched on town (tourist wise) I have been to for a long time. There were 2 museums. Leaving the bus they gave us a badge & a few pamphlets. Saw a petrol pump that was obviously from pre electricity times (you had to pump it & it came complete with similar pre electricity prices. On to St. Louis (pronounced St. Lewis) for 2 nights. If I have a criticism of Trafalgar is that it was unrelenting. 7.45 am on the bus for Chain of Rocks bridge (not used now but it was interesting because it had a 22* bend in the middle. On to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Arch with 1074 steps (forbidden to go up the steps) to the top!! We went up in a capsule though (you wouldn't want to suffer from claustrophobia in the capsule). An interesting view from the top. Then it was on to the Budweiser Brewery where we had a tour & saw a Clydesdale horse. Next day it was off to Branson. Tom the guide says it is light day but we still had to be on the bus by 7.50 am. First stop is the Meramec Caves. Plenty of stalegmites & stalegtites. At a place we stopped for a toilet stop I noticed the flags flying at half mast. Upon enquiring I found that they were at half mast for 4 marines that had been shot overnight by a crazy gunman. Branson here we come. Before we arrived there the heavens opened up Coming from New Zealand I had never seen rain & lightening like that before. As we entered Branson we noticed that there were sandbags in front of the shops so obviously they were used to it. There was an old but working train in Branson but I didn't find out where it goes to. On the road again we passed over the Ozark Hills & then we descended for what seemed like ages. Over lunch it was announced that we would be going through 3 states (Missouri, Kansas & Oklahoma) in the next 20 minutes!!! Saw Baxter which is the home of Haile Irwin (golfer), on to the Wil Rogers museum & then to an historic Red Barn which was unusual in that it was round (6o feet in diameter) arriving at Oklahoma City for our overnight stop. Tom told us 6.30 am breakfast, bags out side the room by 6.45 am & on the bus at 7.45 am. From Oklahoma City our first stop was at the Oklahoma Land Rush Memorial (most interesting). Clinton & Shamrock (Texas population 1900). Went through a few more townships that had obviously been through hard times with plenty of empty shops & houses arriving at McLean, Texas where I saw my first barbed wire museum. I hadn't realised that there were so many varieties of barbed wire Finishing up at Amarillo for our overnight stop. It was 95*F in Amarillo. For tea we went to the Big Texan where if you can eat a 72 ounce steak plus bread & vegetables in under 1 hour you get the steak for nothing however I had a 7 ounce steak!!!! I think the owners would be millionaires because there would be seating for 1000 & people were coming & going all the time. Well one guy ate his 72 ounce steak in 30 seconds less than 1 hour. Left Amarillo & our first stop was at the Cadilac Ranch which had about 10 Cadilacs Half buried so that they looked like the pyramids. I didn't even bother getting out of the bus & so to the mid point café 1390 miles to Los Angeles or Chicago in the other direction. We finally arrived in Albequerque but before that we saw a few Indian Reservations. In Albequerque we went for a tour around the old town before tea. Some had a Banana Split for a sweet. When it arrived it was about 6" to 8" tall!!! (to be continued)

What a fun evening with our friends. We received a special offer from Lazy Dog that was unbelievable it was called Winter Seasonal Menu Event. The dinner including Cocktail Sampler (tasters of Pomegranate Punch, Maple Bacon Old Fashioned and Meyer Lemon Margarita) Small Plates Crispy Deviled Eggs (lightly fried, topped with smoked paprika bacon candy) Roasted Winter Veggies (brussels sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes, red onions, topped with creamy mozzarella burrata, candied pumpkin seeds, pomegranate and thyme) these dishes were shared for two. My entree was Cornish Game Hen (oven-roasted served with carrots, feta, sausage, sweet corn stuffing, apple-sage gravy) my friend had the PB & J Burger (grilled half-pound beef patty, candied bacon, havarti, peanut butter, grape jelly, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle) our wives chose the Spaghetti Squash & Beetballs (spaghetti squash, zucchini ribbons tossed with olive oil, garlic, marinara with venetian meatballs, topped with romano cheese, pesto, toasted pumpkin seeds and balsamic reduction) finishing with a Apple-Huckleberry Open Face Pie. There is no need to talk about each dish because each was amazing the aroma, the taste and the textures, the presentation was simply a carnival experience for the taste buds. All this was only $38.33 including tax per couple. What a fun evening.
