We eat here at least one a month because the food is always tasty no matter what you order. We love the petite fillet mignon with baked potatoe which is always hot and steamy! The fried chicken is the best and has about 4 or 5 pieces of chicken! Another favorite are the onion rings! Don't miss these the best!

Pappas Artisanal

Reviewed By SoCal_WorldTraveler7

Pappas Artisanal is simply amazing! The food is creative and delicious. I've eaten there a half dozen times or so in the last year or so and have only had great food. Last Friday, another couple, my husband, and I went there. Each of us had a different entree and all were delicious. I tried the Friday special -- fried chicken. I'm the daughter of a southern mother whose fried chicken is superb. This almost beat Mom's! The order was a fried breast (boneless with a small bone on one side) and boneless thigh -- JUICY, crisp and flavorful batter, and a wonderful glaze added as a garnish. It was on a bed of mushroom/grain (maybe quinoa?) deliciousness. My hubby had the Cubano sandwich; I had sharing rights and it was good. My friend had her favorite -- the loaded potato salad (crispy potato chunks, cheese, crumbled bacon, etc. on a bed of greens) and her husband had the pork/beef chili in a bread bowl. The only unevenness is the service which is what moved it to a "4". This is true more than half of the times we have eaten at Pappas. For example -- this Friday, we arrived at 5:50 pm to meet friends at 6 pm. The restaurant was far from full; we were told we couldn't be seated until the other 2 arrived. OK, they are entitled to this policy and I don't fault them on this. So, we stood at the doorway and waited. When our friends arrived at 6, we were still required to wait an additional 10 minutes. The restaurant was still 1/2 full. And, we weren't seated in a new section (i.e., they weren't waiting for a new staff member to arrive). We've been present other times when the wait staff go AWOL; we ended up with cold food one time because we hadn't been given utensils and couldn't track down any server. We finally went to the counter to ask for it and were told if they would bring it to us; this was followed by more waiting. So, WHEN Pappas gets their serving as consistent as their food quality, it will be a 5. Until then, come for GREAT food and uneven service. It is still worth it!

Real nice place. Lots of lesser known beer choices but they are pricey. Food is also pricey. $12-$15 for a burger. Hard to have a conversation. Sports on TVs and live music Saturday night. Bartender way overworked. Burger was overcooked.

Chase's LaVerne

Nice enough restaurant relocated to a new location. Maybe too big, too fast. Can’t complain about the food. It’s good. Customer service is lacking. Drink orders even slower. Servers use iPads to take orders but heaven forbid you have a special request. If they don’t refuse your request all together, it is certainly frowned upon & then takes servers forever to enter the info. As if the $19.95 charge for a call martini wasn’t bad enough, the ultimate insult was the $1.00 charge per person per dinner roll! If you want an extra roll that will be another dollar! Really??? Many locals are not happy with the arrogance of the owner/manager. Apparently they’re so successful, they doesn’t need “local” business. They don’t do separate checks. And don’t park your car near the outdoor BBQ as my car was covered in grease when we left! Hoping management’s attitude towards customer service changes in the near future. We’ll wait a couple months before giving it one last try.

Cute little diner in downtown La Verne. We were there on a Saturday night about 6:30pm and there were only a couple other people in the place; I imagine it's busier during the day for breakfast and lunch, especially being so close to the University. Good food at decent prices. But they only take cash so make sure you are prepared. A sign says they have an ATM inside but we didn't use it, so I'm not sure what the fees are. We both had omelettes which were very good. Our waitress was super friendly! Would definitely eat here again if we're in town.

Mr. D's Diner

While visiting in the area we decided to try Mr. D's for breakfast. We were greeted warmly when we entered and taken to our seat. They have a big menu to choose from. After placing our order it did take quite awhile to get our food but we were in no hurry. The portions were very generous and their prices were reasonable. Our waitress did a good job keeping our coffee and water filled.

Been eating at Warehouse Pizza for 20+ years and aside from the beer selection and video games, nothing has changed. All food I've had here is very good even the sandwiches and pasta, but you SHOULD be ordering their pizza. Good quality ingredients, their dough gets cooked perfectly but not too thick. Good selection of craft beers, ample indoor and outdoor seating and a ton of locals. And yes, have a salad with their famous ranch dressing. Be Prepared to pay cash, they have an ATM inside.
