Burlington Hotels | Places to Stay in Burlington

July 31, 2022 Fernanda Pittenger

Vermont's largest and perhaps most cosmopolitan city, Burlington beckons with the perfect blend of old New England charm, arts, culture and nature. Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Adirondack and Green Mountains, Burlington is one of those places you can't help but fall in love with. During the spring and summer, the streets come alive with festivals and outdoor concerts. The picnic benches, playground and bike paths of Leddy Park are filled with warm weather revelers, and opportunities to swim, fish or just kick back on the beach abound. In the fall, the Burlington Bike Path is bustling with leaf peepers who come to view the vibrant autumn colors. In winter, lace up your ice skates and head to the Paquette Arena or grab your skis and head to any of the nearby resorts. Church Street Marketplace, with its early 1900s architecture, great restaurants, live entertainment, one-of-a-kind shops and well-known stores, is the focal point of the downtown area. Anytime of the year is a good time for chocolate. Be sure to stop by Lake Champlain Chocolates for a tour and taste.

Relaxing and beautiful

Reviewed By Elizabeth W

This was our first trip to Burlington and we picked the perfect place to stay. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very new. The ambient light everywhere made it very relaxing. The staff was excellent. I had forgotten a very expensive, ergonomic pillow in our room. They shipped it to me with express shipping and even wrapped it in tissue paper. It was with in walking distance to everything downtown. The front desk staff was very helpful with recommendations for places to eat and visit. We loved the coffee bar on each floor. The little things like the hand made coffee mugs in the rooms and the AO glass everywhere was a nice touch. Its a short drive to The Vermont teddy bear factory, Ethan Allen homestead, Champlin chocolates and AO glass. We even had a view of the lake. If you're going to stay in Burlington, this is place to stay.

I booked the room online with Traveluro for one night. The payment made online. At the checking desk, the lady insist to charge another fee for $27 plus $16. All these charges should have been done via online at the booking so you don't get charge twice. The hotel should have this resolved directly with online booking company. It took long time to get check-in done. I have not been treated as a long time Hilton member. I was asked to pay early check-in fee around 1pm upon arrival at the lobby and I returned to check-in after 3pm. I will avoid Hilton for the future travel. I was given a room over look at the roof after spent over $300 for one night at the Burlington Lake.

Incredible breakfast & location; great staff

Reviewed By missaceclub

I really don’t understand the negative reviews of this hotel. We had a wonderful time! First, let me just say that I am extremely picky when it comes to hotels and typically only do high-end, but I chose this one due to the location and convenience. The hotel is well-maintained and the staff was friendly and accommodating. But the breakfast! Please, you have to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was so delicious!!! We loved everything - yogurt parfait with granola, honey and fresh berries, pancakes (we asked for one of each plain, blueberry and chocolate) with real Vermont syrup, eggs were fluffy and not over cooked, well-seasoned potatoes and crispy bacon. We’ll come back here just for the breakfast! And the hotel is a convenient and lovely walk to the pier. Also a quick walk to Hen of the Wood restaurant, which was also incredible. Great job, Courtyard team!!! We’ll be back!

We Love Cameron!

Reviewed By SPIDER M

On a month-long road trip through the northeast, we stayed in 7 Hilton/Hampton hotels. Truthfully, they all started to blur together after a while, so it was really our interactions with the staff that made a particular hotel stand out for us. We met the nicest person of our travels at this Hilton Garden Inn . . . the wonderful Cameron. We saw them every day of our 4-night stay and we were always greeted with a smile, a hello, and a "Can I help you with anything". I needed quarters for the laundry . . . Cameron got them. We asked about local restaurants . . . Cameron gave us lists and tips. I wish I could say we were special, but we saw Cameron interact with every customer in the same friendly, helpful way. We loved Cameron! The hotel, itself, was well-located, but we did have some noise issues with our room. We had asked for an upper level, but were given a room on the 2nd floor. We had a lot of noise from the room above and heard (very clearly) our next door neighbors "getting frisky" one morning at 2:00 am. We were also directly across from the ice machine so that added to the noise level. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the Burlington area.

Very rude and disrespectful service, I should have read the reviews from the past guests before I booked

Reviewed By Feelingunsafe

I arrived 25 minutes early, the door to the office was locked and no waiting area. So I rang the bell; I had to wait outside in the blasting heat/sun until someone came. I asked if I could check in because it's already 3:05 pm and I needed to use the bathroom, the man said something a bit loud (almost angry) because I didn't completely understand what he said; I asked him kindly with "I am sorry" to repeat what he said, he told me angrily to just read the printed paper on the window, that the check-in would be at 3:30 pm. He said, "you don't have to understand me; you just have to use your brain and read." So, I waited in the car until 3:30 pm. When I went to my room, the key didn't work, I followed the instructions in the back of the card. After about 10 times trying and the key still didn't work, I went downstairs to let the same person about the key, again very kindly, angrily said, "Why can't you read the instructions. You did the wrong thing, and that's why it didn't work." I told him there was no reason for him to be so negative; I would appreciate it if he could just show me how to use the card so I could enter my room. This is the most unsafe accommodation I have ever put myself in. Perhaps because I am a female and traveling alone. During my conversations with this staff, I was so afraid that he would punch me or be physical due to his high tone and angry eyes. I am sorry to say this, but I thought staying in a place with Tibet as a part of its name would be a safe, peaceful, and compassionate place. The staff is absolutely the opposite of peaceful, patient, and compassionate. He is miserable and angry and has some issues. As a professor, I would suggest that the management provides the appropriate customer service training. The training should include an awareness/understanding workshop that highlight "it is normal for people to ask questions and for help" and "it cost no money to be kind." I wish I had read the reviews from past guests. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone else.

Great location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and cookies.

We stayed 4 nights in April 2022. Our room was the The Garden Spa. It is a large room in what was probably part of the cellar of the original house. Large shower, spa tub with jets, separate toilet/sink area. We enjoyed the daily cookies and the privacy of being in a room separate from the mail house. Breakfast was always outstanding. We would definitely come back here and highly recommend the Lang House.

I will try to make this quick! This was my only second hostel. I didn't care for the curtains and no doors, I think that is a safety issue since anyone can be let up "pretending" to inquire on a room. The staff is very young and very liberal. I heard a lot of swear words,in which I still consider unprofessional. The hostel is close to many different things! It was clean for the most part and the staff was helpful. If I was in the area again, YES, I would stay again because of the cost!
