Lovely Hotel in the heart of the town
Reviewed By NickMottStayed in this lovely quaint hotel with friends as we were getting the Glacial Express the next day from Brig to St. Moritz. Beds we’re comfortable and shower great. Staff were friendly and we had eggs and omelettes cooked to order. Felt it was good value for Switzerland and a great location in the middle of town and only 4 mins from town

Our Schlosshotel is located directly on the castle park of the beautiful Stockalperpalast. The hotel has 23 smaller and bigger rooms - some completely redesigned and decorated. Check-in is usually done via a self check-in machine at the entrance of the hotel. The reception is only open sporadically in the evening. All our prices are without breakfast. The extra charge for the breakfast is CHF 13.00 per person and can be booked online, or also at the reception and will be served in the attic of the hotel. In the reception is a new catering system with a small selection of different snacks and drinks. We look forward to your visit and wish you a pleasant journey.
Glacier Express Stop
Reviewed By AndysTravel1028We were taking the Glacier Express from Chur to Zermatt but the hotels in Zermatt were very expensive so we looked into Brig to stay the night and visit in the day. This hotel was not only very charming and clean (a plus during the pandemic) it had good internet and cable service. The views were lovely and the overall atmosphere was great. We were greeted downstairs with a delicious breakfast that was local cheeses and meats along with breads, jams and butters, coffee from a Nescafé machine (which was surprisingly good) and some yogurt and overnight oats. The man at the front desk was possible the nicest person we met on our entire vacation and was very considerate in letting us leave out bags in the hotel while we left to Zermatt and came back to get them. Overall recommend this hotel for anyone that comes to it. The only downside to the hotel would be the walk from the station but as long as your willing to walk about 8 minutes through the nice town you’ll be greeted by an amazing hotel!

Cozy and convenient
Reviewed By Davide CWe were booked at this hotel together with a trip on the Furka steam railway. It took us just 2 minutes to reach the entrance from the station and we were greeted by a nice lady. The rooms are of average size (for our standards) and very clean, and the bathroom was modern and renovated not many years ago. After a good sleep we could enjoy an abundant breakfast on the second floor. Everything has been pleasant!

The Hotel du Pont is the oldest family-run hotel in the historic city of Brig in the Aletsch region. It has been renovated completely just recently and can be found right in the city centre. Enjoy fine cuisine including seasonal specialities à la carte of opt for the set menu of the day. Try a tasty fondue or a fine trout accompanied by a great wine from the Valais - all at reasonable prices. Thank to its central location the Hotel du Pont is an ideal base for exploring this charming little city with its impressive Baroque Stockalper castle.
A Little Gem in the Heart of Brig.
Reviewed By maureen rWe are just back from 5 great nights in Hotel Du Pont. The staff are the best you could get especially Isabelle who served our meals on many occasions., and the two lovely Italian waitresses, sorry I don't know their names. The food is amazing and they must have a great chef to produce the menu that he or she did and all cooked to perfection. One of our party is a trained chef and she was very impressed with the food. Christian went above and beyond what was expected of him when he saw that my sunglasses were lying on the table, broken. He immediately said he would take them and get them fixed for me, which he did, I was blown away by his kindness. It may not be the most modern hotel but there are other things that are more important than that, great staff, lovely food and very comfortable and clean rooms. It is wheelchair accessible with a lovely shower in the disabled room. It is the perfect location to do a bit of retail therapy. I hope to return to Brig and I would not even look for another hotel I would go straight to Hotel Du Pont.

Just AmaIZng. I don’t know why some gave it 4/5. We are so picky and this hotel was awesome. The amenities, the food, the room attention to detail just perfect and cheap compared to other local hotels. Great job !

Location, location, location
Reviewed By JeanLeonLePrevostThis hotel is ideally located (hence the title of my review), a couple of minutes on foot away from the train station (and the old town) of Brig. It's in Naters, on the other side of the river, but both cities are really one big town. It is quite old and in need of some love, but in the process of being renovated. My room was small, but ultra clean and super comfy. The bathroom was nothing short of spectacular: it was like stepping through time to the Eighties, with dark brown ceramic tiles everywhere (yet, again, super clean). And my one true criticism of the place was the shower. I had the feeling of showering under the tears of a Swiss banker (i.e. no pressure in the shower whatsoever). The staff was friendly enough (and spoke perfect French, which was awesome for me). So all in all, you won't get a five-star hotel, but you'll get a clean place and friendly faces, all that with a train station at a couple of hundred paces.

Reviewed By BurkabooIt’s in the middle of nowhere. We don’t mind walking but not in -1° at night after having a meal at another restaurant. One very slow, small elevator. Can hear people coughing in the room next door and doors banging. Dinner at the Alex was basic and bland breakfast was much better good coffee, delicious eggs, and bread. Our room was spacious and clean. We had a kettle with tea, coffee & sugar but no milk or creamer and no fridge. The hotel offers free bottled water but I suspect the bottles are refilled each day. The bathroom shower is very awkward to get in/out of, once in thou water is hot with good pressure. It’s a bit sad and tired could do with a refurb. I feel it’s overpriced for what you get and very surprised that it’s got 4star rating.

Average hotel and English may be a challenge
Reviewed By chongkc13Spent a couple of nights at this hotel using it as a base to visit Zermatt and Aletesch Glacier. Hotel is about 700m from Brig train station and one has to pull the luggage up slope through the city center on cobble stone road (and some pavement), make sure you have good wheels for your luggage. When we arrived, it was nearly 8pm and the front desk wasnt manned, we had to wait for the staff to turn up (searching for the staff was challenging too as others dont speak english). However, staff is friendly and helpful. Room is OK, and like many hotels in Switzerland, it doesnt come with airconditioning, so one has to open the huge window. problem is that there are bugs in summer! Room is equipped with a standing fan though. Design of room looks dated. There is a grocery store just a stone throw away from hotel, and restaurants are just downstair though there are more in the city center which is about 200-300 meters away. I guess, this is a value for $ hotel.
