Comfortable motel in a good location
Reviewed By MIKEndSUEThe room was part of a building on the opposite side of the road to the motel complex, it was spacious and well maintained with good Wifi. Great location for exploring Bourke and close the hotel which served reasonable meals. The BBQ was in the motel complex across the road but had no gas, so big thanks to the manager who cooked our steaks in the motel kitchen to save the day.

Reviewed By kathyowen59The owner ( there was no manager at the time) is an absolute RACIST! Comments made about our Indigenous Australians left me absolutely flawed!!! Speechless!!! And upset!!! Shame really as previous owner and managers were really nice.

The Major Mitchell Motel is located conveniently close to the CBD of Bourke and the local tourist attractions. We are a family friendly and outdoor pet friendly motel that caters to many corporate clients, tourists and travellers. The majority of our clientele have been regular guests of the motel for many, many years. The Major Mitchell Motel has 16 rooms comprising of 5 Standard Rooms (all ground level), 7 Deluxe Rooms (5 ground level & 2 upstairs rooms), 2 Family Rooms (ground level), 1 Executive Suite (upstairs room) and 1 Spa Suite (upstairs room). The motel rooms all have their own shower and toilet, hairdryer, microwave, bar fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, flat screen TV, luggage rack, clothes airer, clothes hanging cupboard, linen and towels are provided, pool towels are provided and onsite parking is available. Room service is available to guests for Breakfast 7 days and for Dinner from Monday to Friday. We are a licensed premises and Mini Bar items - alcohol, softdrinks, chocolates and bottled water can be purchased from Reception. Our 55 seat fully Licensed Restaurant is available to cater to Tour Groups and can be hired for Functions and Events - catering is available upon request. Our guests can enjoy Free *WiFi in Public Areas of the motel and in *rooms (*subject to availability). Free BBQ Facilities are also available and utensils, plates and cutlery can be requested from reception. The motel Swimming Pool is open from 7.30am to 9.30pm daily.

Reviewed By tcschantThis place didnt have my booking! I had kids in the car, driven 10 hours and was told no bkg when I booked back in September 2021. Extremely disappointed and he didnt even offer to help find anything else! In all my years travelling this has never EVER happened. Major Mitchell = Major stuff up! I wont be booking you, nor any of my clients here! Terrible svc and no remorse. If you do book here, make sure you ring first, I'd hate for this to happen to anyone else.

Great location - not in Bourke town (@ North Bourke), so pretty secure.
Reviewed By Jocelyn CGreat bed (king size!) & bathroom. Good air con, quiet location. Kitchenette - full sized fridge, microwave, toaster, stove, sink. Only drawback was lack of some crockery & some cutlery - no teaspoons, one coffee cup, 2 glasses (as well as 2 wine glasses) but room sleeps up to 4. 3 bowls & 3 of all other cutlery. No staff in office at any time - sometimes hard to contact someone, e.g. when arriving & need room key! Need to update their website, as information from when previous owners operated this motel & currently not correct.

Very Comfortable Accommodation ..........
Reviewed By John CLarge and comfortable accommodation in a very central location in Bourke which was accessible to all of the areas of interest in Bourke. Located across the street from the Bourke Bowling Club and parklands, this was a very quiet place to stay. The building is a heritage listed building built around the late 1800's and is in good condition. The facilities are accessible and are in good presentation condition and are very clean and well presented. Well worth a stay if coming to Bourke.

Reviewed By swsssLooks are deceiving from the outside the cabin style accommodation looked great - but went downhill from there Reception area was Messy and disorganised Room has the worlds largest bed - such a shame it is so uncomfortable - possibly the worst bed I have slept in. Bathroom was tired and roughly repaired The air conditioner worked well but the in the night turn it off and sweat otherwise you can’t sleep as the lights are brighter than runway lights !
