This quaint little Thai restaurant is a blink-and-you’d-miss-it gem. I walked in, not only to get out of the cold, but it was also dinner time. The team member on the floor, Kim, is exceptionally good and has commendable hospitality skills. He is chatty, all smiles and also has a way with his customers, making him an asset to the establishment. Dinner was the Thai Fish Cake (so soft they almost crumble when bit into) and Chicken with Cashew Nut (soft chicken slices stir-fried with vegetables and nuts). Jasmine Rice was the staple for me. I will not hesitate to return, not only because of the food, but also the service. Keep it up.

We were a family group of four adults (2 Brits, 2 Aussies) with a table booked for 530pm Saturday 26th October. We all enjoyed a tasty meal with efficient service. Everything was good and portion sizes generous. I had vegetable tempura (AUD 12) and chilli baramundi (AUD 26). Our total bill, before tip, was AUD 265.50 of which AUD 90 was alcohol - cocktails and a bottle of red wine. I'd be happy to return but Adelaide is a long way from Durham!

This was my second visit to 82 Thai and I was far more impressed by the food on my latest visit. The menu is interesting, some variations on the classic Thai that one sees elsewhere and the flavours were clean and fresh.Service was efficient, but not really engaged or warm, which is a shame, it would make such a difference.

Gin Long Canteen

Reviewed By adelaidemummy

My husband and I and our 2 teenage daughters went to gin long tonight on a recommendation. Wow! We had an excellent meal. Chicken wings, cheese spring rolls, eggplant, soft shell crab, prawn toast all small plates but very generous serves. Then the squid which was possibly the best squid we have ever eaten, so tender. Followed by coconut rice, chop suey and slow cooked pork belly which was a big plate. We had six glasses of the house wine, 3 Shiraz and 3 reisling which were excellent and the bill was $172. Every dish was delicious which is unusual , service excellent , wine very good value. First visit, cannot fault our experience. We would highly recommend. We went at 6pm on a Tuesday night and it was busy which I suggest is testament to their popularity.

Star of Siam

Star of Siam Thai restaurant, Adelaide, South Australia

First night in Adelaide in 10 years and we thought a visit to Gouger St would be a good start. We walked into the Star of Siam without a reservation at 8 pm and were seated immediately.Service appeared efficient and plusher initially. 2 entrees and 2 mains ordered, we waited patiently, taking in the surrounds. It looked like the kind of place frequented by regulars judging by the familiarity of an senior lady ( maybe owner ) with some of the guests.Only one entree arrived and we waited for another 15 minutes for everything else to arrive to which when they decided to move us to another table?? To sufficiently fit the dishes we ordered on.The staff have obviously been encouraged to perform ‘silver service’ when serving dishes, but it unnecessary, in my opinion, when this style of meal, which is meant to be shared, doesn’t really warrant it.Maybe this service would warrant the above average price tag for the food. The duck red curry lacked actual duck in it. But was very healthy and full of vegetables. They should call it red veg curry with a hint of duck. The BBQ squid was excellent. The entree of snow peas was also good and the Pad Ke Meow with pork was tasty.Good serviceFood was ok.Hefty priceOccasional dining

Dined here on a Saturday night at the early seating of 6.30pm. Excellent, friendly service. Indulged in the Tuk Tuk (chefs selection menu) and it was brilliant, really delicious as well as good value for the amount of food we were served, including dessert. Great atmosphere but very noisy so conversation was a little difficult. Good wine list as well. Great Thai food.

Cafe Michael 2

There's nothing really spectacular about this restaurant and it will disappoint true lovers of Thai. But for a quick lunch it is great value. The Green Curry Chicken was good although a bit dry, the Pad Thai was more flavoursome. The staff are friendly and attentive. I would normally rate this as a good restaurant but due to TripAdvisor's rating system, Cafe Michael is not quite very good. But is you are looking for value and a quick lunch this is a very good restaurant.
