There has been buzz about the Cowboy Star. I did due diligence by reviewing the website and finding it lacking in information. I called and talked with a butcher to clarify that Prime IS served there...not every dish. I asked hom about the Steeak-Frites and was assured that it Prime. He also recommended the Happy Hour ( 2-6pm) as the best value. So a friend and I tried it. She selected the house hamburger ansd was pleased with the meat quality. She opted for a house side salad instead of fries. I ord She order a diet Coke; I ordedered the Strak-Frites and specified that I did not want it to be a peppered steak. The prime rbeye ordered rar was nicely sliced but the frites were oversalted...that was corrected and the chef agreed with me. I had glass of the Spanish cava ( sparkling). The creme brulee waslush. Meghan gave professional service. Yes, I will return..especially for Happy Hour! Before tip the steak-frites and the cava were $36.00There is also a separate butcher shop which sells PRIME and other carefully sources meats.

We 'only' ate breakfast here during our stay, but it was an outstanding experience, with delicious, plentiful food and expert, attentive service. The dining room offers panoramic views over the golf course and we found it a perfect, relaxing way to start the day.

I went to Mackenzie's Chophouse in downtown Colorado Springs as part of a group last week. It was a very pleasant experience, from being greeted warmly by the hostess at the front door to being served at the bar to the interaction with the young lady that was our server. It's a very relaxed and muted place, with beautiful dark woodwork and hushed tones. The food, for the most part, was very good; the prime rib was done just as ordered (although it had a bit too much fat, not unusual for prime rib), the bone in ribeye was excellent, the shrimp cocktail was very good. Somebody ordered the brussell sprout hash, I would avoid that when dining there in the future. I didn't try it but I didn't hear great things about it (but I'm not into brussell sprouts anyway). The carrots that came as a side were good. About the only negative comment I heard was in regard to the bison; the meat was a bit tough and far too peppery for the gentleman that ordered it. Again, something I would avoid. But for the most part, a very good meal and a pleasant experience, even if a bit overpriced. You're definitely paying for the ambience and the experience, which is fine as long as you know that going in. I will definitely dine there again.

Excellent dinner. It was the Sunday before Labor Day so we went a bit early (3:30) just in case. Plenty of seating at that time. My wife and I both had the filet minion, she had the standard plate and I had the special which was topped with a crab sauce. Both were excellent. I was kind of hungry and finished off my soup pretty quickly. They took my dish away and while my wife was still working on her salad the manager came by and asked if I had received my warmup plate yet. It was nice of him to check up on us.

A steakhouse blast from the past including, of course, a piano man made our Saturday evening a delight. The tuna tartare and oysters Rockefeller starters were amazing and steaks perfect. Food and service were both first rate - true 5âs. What detracted from the evening was the noise level. Our friends gathering wasnât what it could have been as we had to shout to be heard. We love a great buzz of conversation around us but...I am sorry that the noise level was too high. If there is ever any issue with the noise from the piano or the music from our speakers, please let us know; I would be happy to turn down the volume if it is something I can control. Thank you for letting me know about your experience and we hope to see you in the future.

The Bison burger cooked medium was delicious. The Sweet potato fries were so good. We really enjoyed our lunch and the view, the mountains in the back ground. You can walk around the mall afterward. The service was good! Our Waitress was very helpful, food allergy concerns and she helped us all the way.Thank you so much for the 5-star review! We are so happy you enjoyed our genuine hospitality and made-from-scratch food. We have over 20 gourmet burgers so you have to come back to try them ALL!
