Well deserved rating. Was not expecting much from a lunch salad, but was surprised with my grilled chicken salad and my wife’s grill shrimp salad. We were full but ask to see the dessert menu. Wow my wife loved her chocolate/hazelnut cake. My choice of pistachio cake was outstanding

We understand that NYE is particularly busy and it won't be an identical experience to a regular night. However, while the food was delicious as always, we felt rushed and our waitress was downright obnoxious. We usually make 5 PM reservations because it's a small place and you can barely hear others at your table when it is full. We made 5:30 reservations and certainly by the time we left at 7, it was packed and extremely loud. That is always to be expected on weekend evenings and holidays here so that's fine. Just be sure you're fine with loud, somewhat crowded restaurants (for example, there were people sitting within 2 feet of me on either side of the wall bench). They left the outside door open for some reason so anytime someone came in through the second door which usually buffers the cold, a freezing wind rushed through the establishment, especially because there is nowhere to stand at the entrance besides in the doorway if you are more than 2 people. We had a nice table and were seated almost immediately. The waitress who came over was some combination of overly-familiar and rude, however. We had a couple of questions about the menu and at the second question, she said she was going to add a tip to the bill for each question. I assume this was meant to be a joke but it came off sounding like she was annoyed and using "humor" to veil it. The NYE menu is the full menu but it's 3 items for $45 - however, it's more complex than that because the meats and cheeses count as one item for 3 of them, as do the spreads, the empanadas are two for one, etc. Our questions were entirely valid. She also interrupted us to ask if we were vegetarian after we ordered four of our items, then started basically making fun of veg*n diets, though again, using her idea of "humor" which was still quite rude. Hilariously, after several times saying "just kidding" after saying she was going to add a tip to the bill - she DID add a tip to the bill! 20% mandatory tip which was not mentioned anywhere though the owner (?) had called the night before to outline prices and details of the menu in detail. I found that an interesting omission. We always tip 20%+ but I feel like she knew she was being obnoxious and would potentially not get her desired tip so it got tacked on. Who knows. Oh, and she also scoffed towards the beginning of the meal when we said we weren't drinking. Sorry, one of us is sober - what business is that of yours? Ugh, anyway, that is the only negative experience I've ever had with waitstaff here. We otherwise adore this place and the food is to die for. One gripe, as I mentioned, was how rushed we felt. We were required to order all 6 items at once (to rush us out, I'm sure) and indeed, they pretty much all came out quickly. At one point, we had FOUR items on our tiny table! I had to tell the woman bringing them out to wait a bit. Of course, they just kept the ready items in the back longer so the last two came out cold and lukewarm respectively. Sigh. There was also this mute young man who hovered creepily behind us several times, waiting to snatch up plates he considered empty. On more than one occasion, he snatched plates that we were NOT done with. Maybe ask if the customer is done before you take plates away? Dessert was to die for as usual. Again, no complaints about the actual food which is some of the best I've ever had (gnocchi, eggplant, empanadas, spreads, cheese board, onion rings). I won't let this one rushed, rude experience affect my opinion of this establishment as a whole! But this one experience was not ideal and I'm not sure if the food would be enough to make me come back if this had been my first/only experience. Owner/manager (whoever she is) is pleasant to customers but always seems a bit snippy with staff.
