Pacifico Restaurant

Reviewed By CarTRVLR

I had high hopes for Pacifico, after reading the menu, but the descriptions were better than the reality. Drinks sounded good but were hard to distinguish from each other...(is this the daiquiri? or is that?). We had mostly small plates and shared, but nothing really wowed us. The ceviche was a disappointment-- 4 shrimp with lots of onion--if the idea is that the shrimp are expensive, I'd rather have more of some alternative (a white fish) The mussels were abundant, but not memorable. The fish tacos were again, 'okay', but the (fried) fish was just a bit soggy, and there was nothing special about the sauce. Service was fine, friendly and efficient. Maybe because we eat a lot of this type of food we have higher expectations, but nothing about Pacifico would bring me back. Thanks for the review and the feedback, CarTRVLR. We're sorry you had a less than stellar experience, and we hope you'll give us another chance to make it right.

Soul de Cuba Cafe

The Soul de Cuba Cafe concept is rooted in the idea of promoting and preserving Afro-Cuban culture through sharing traditional Cuban - Afro-Indigenous food and art. The concept begins in a cozy dining-room setting that incorporates Cuban memorabilia, fami

We were a big part of 8. I had two guava mojitos, which I highly recommend, and would have happily had a third. As a group we had two sampler appetizers, the lechon, carne molida, ropa vieja, pollo moderno, steak and cuban sandwiches. For dessert, we had the tres leches and the guava pastelitos. The guava pastelitos were very good and made my cousin and I pretty happy. All in all, all the dishes were pretty good and flavourful. Food came out pretty fast, so I am assuming some of it was prepared ahead. I agree that the restaurant is on the pricier side. The waitress moved in slow motion, added an 18% tip to the bill and didn't mention it. We then accidentally left an additional tip for her poor service. We realized this upon leaving and went back almost immediately to correct the matter. They wouldn't reprocess the bill but stated that they would not run the tip. I will update this review if this isn't the case. In the meantime, if coming in with a big party, look at the bill closely.

Had a beef special which was so over salted i couldn’t eat it. Caesar salad wasn’t tossed... a bit lazy. Overall restaurant appearance was outdated and sloppy. Seems more like a place to bring kids than for couples. Would have given 1 star except the waitress was so nice. Will not return.

Saoco Restaurant

Reviewed By DnDvn

We were a family of 5 going college hopping over the weekend and when we all got hungry we just happen to be passing by Saoco Restaurant. So being that my wife is Colombian and we thoroughly enjoy eating Colombian cuisine we couldn't resist stopping by here instead of the typical food joints. I will give my rating based upon three criteria; quality of food, price of food and service.Quality of food: To say that we eat a lot of Colombian food is an understatement. Probably once a week we have some sort of Colombian food. Mostly this food comes from either Brentwood NY or Queens NY. All of which are very very good. I would say that the food here at Saoco was on par with these places. I wouldn't say that anything blew us away, except my boys did suck down the Mora drinks (they said they tasted like Frunas, a Colombian candy). I had the Bandeja Tipica Paisa, which is my go to dish at any Colombian restaurant and even when I visited Colombia this past summer. I would say that this dish didn't disappoint. I would just say they need to improve the fattiness of their steak. Some of it was hard to chew compared to what I am use to.Price: Surprisingly this was more expensive than what we are use to coming from buying dinners in Queens NY. I guess more competition drives down the prices more. For example my dish was $15.95 and I usually get it for $12.95. As a matter of fact each of our dishes was about $3 more than we usually pay but then again there isn't too much competition around here I guess.Service: This was very good. Everyone was attentive and pleasant. English was spoken by all employees so the language barrier is not an issue.Overall Experience: If you are in the area and in the mood for some authentic tasting Colombian food and don't mind it being a little bit pricey than this is a great choice.

A pleasant surprise in a strip mall! The restaurant is actually downstairs, and if you park in the rear you can walk right in. Nicely decorated space, fast service, and beautifully presented food. We went for the entrees, which had a limited selection, but next time, I think we'll come with a group and share from the wide choice of appetizers.
