Arrived to a bustling, vibrant pub atmosphere with a good mix of families, couples and groups of friends. Despite the numbers in the obviously popular venue, good staffing numbers and efficient service ensured that I soon had a schooner in hand. A good selection of pub favourites on the menu and specials board. I had a rump steak, my wife the chicken schnitzel. Both meals looked great, with good-sized portions, golden hot chips and colouful salad. My steak was thick, juicy and tender. Wife's only suggestion was that the chicken fillet could have been plumper. She felt it was a bit thin, and was a little lost in the breadcrumbs, but enjoyed it nonetheless.Very enjoyable meal and venue. Highly recommended for a good pub meal.Hi there John, thank you very much for your shining review! We're so glad to hear both you and your wife enjoyed your experience with us and we have noted your feedback regarding the chicken fillet. We hope to host you again very soon.

Our preferred restaurant wasn't open so we opted for The Grill. The service was excellent, location overlooking the water was lovely and the food was pretty good too.We chose the double cooked pork belly and chicken parmagiana - both were great and the pork belly had crispy pork crackling with it.We will be back.

I was wanting to purchase a couple of dozen fresh oysters and saw this business on the way into Port Macquarie so thought I'd go back there. What a waste. I walked in and promptly walked out. There was absolutely no fresh seafood on display in the entire store! I think that there winter hours started early. Went into town and purchased elsewhere (port fresh seafood short st). There seafood was extremely fresh and the service from the staff was excellent.

First off I’d like to say the waiters are friendly and attentive but then all other service goes out of the window. 2 our of 3 meals were unbelievably bad. The pizza was like eating cheese and tomatoes on bread with oregano suffocating whatever toppings were on it. The lamb ragoo was tasteless and watery. The vegetables on one of the dishes were pretty much raw. We sent one of the dishes back as it was inedible and asked for it to be taken off of the bill in which the waiter was very apologetic. Until she came back and said the chef said there is nothing wrong with the dish and was not willing to take it off the bill. My friend was very upset and we had all tasted it and agreed there was zero taste and something not right with it. The manager came over and said she had tasted it and that’s just how it has always been. My friend asked if she tasted it and if so what did it taste like and she said she did and it tasted like a lamb stew .... well it’s not a lamb stew it’s a lamb ragoo. They were not accommodating at all the feedback obviously damaged the chefs ego and seemed to want to put up a fight. If 3 customers agree that something is not right with the dish then maybe you should listen to them. After speaking with a waiter and the ‘manager’ they both said the chef was unwilling to take it off of the bill. They asked if we wanted anything else ... this would have been at an extra charge and from the standard of food we had already received we were definitely not prepared to pay for anymore. It really just left us all in disbelief and ruined our experience. Even if they had discounted the meal to attempt to make things better but there was nothing. Would never return there again, very poor quality food and unprofessional management.

Dined here on a Tuesday night and almost had the place to ourselves. Wait staff were friendly and engaging and service prompt. I broke my golden rule of never ordering a pasta dish anywhere I dine (except overseas) and I'm so glad I did. We shared an entree of oysters which were beautifully fresh and the mignonette and lemon added just a little extra zest. We both ordered the Qld King Prawn Linguini and it was absolutely sublime! A generous portion of fresh linguini and prawns with a smattering of peas, served in a delicious bisque which was subtle but very tasty and complemented the ingredients. Dish was topped with shaved parmesan and a chorizo crumb. A memorable meal, compliments to the chef!

This place reminded us a little of Ricky Ricardo's at Noosa, but left a lot to be desired. It's right on the river and the food was great but we were unfamiliar with the wines by-the-glass on the wine list so asked for a little taste. We were told 'no' - we couldn't try any of the wines. We've NEVER been to a restaurant (and we dine out very often) - especially a fine-dining restaurant, where we couldn't try an unfamilar wine; after all, it's just a mouthfull. So one of us ordered a glass of wine on spec (at a premium price so you'd think it would be great) and the other refused any alcohol based on their miserly attitude. The wine was disappointing and arrived quite a while after the entree. The service also left a lot to be desired. On the whole. it's a pretty amateur operation. The service and penny-pinching ruined what should have been a really enjoyable lunch. So there's another restaurant to cross off our local favourites list :(

This is a nice restaurant but requires some refinements. Firstly the waiters need some basic training on what is on the menu. When asked what di oes the meal come with? I do not expect the waiter to start reading the menu out loud to me. As i said I ca read. Gluten free availability should now be a basic.. Serving fish on soup bowls is ridiculous as it spoils the dinng experience as it is difficult to use a knife and fork.Waiter forgot chips which are really needed. Food was good but brocolli was raw to rare which is not how it should be,Hi @eddie2610! Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us; although we are saddened to hear of so many aspects of your experience that displeased you. Please kindly note that our team is fully trained on our menu and service standards with most of our team having been long serving members of our business - however, entering our busier period we are in the process of hiring new team members who will need time to adjust to all aspects of service - which we are happy to encourage. We came here on a cold night hoping for something special. We were not disappointed. The waitstaff were prompt, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. I started with a scampi special recommended by the waiter- the scampi were sweet and perfectly paired with beautiful accompaniments. My husband had the scampi linguini which he said was amazing. The mains, venison and tooth fish, were both delightful, again served with accompaniments that brought out the best in the star of the dish. I didn’t mean to eat dessert but the waiter recommended the caramel as a light dessert, and he was right. A perfect end to a perfect meal.
