Summit House has excellent service, friendly and helpful staff and the food is exceptional quality and well prepared to individual requests. Having recently celebrated an anniversary, a Congratulations card signed by all the staff was on our reserved table. Little details make the excellent 5 star rating.

Pretty good restaurant, even though it is in a strip mall and I always have very low expectations of restaurants in strip malls. Actually, my expectations are so low that I don’t eat in restaurants in strip malls! But if you are staying in scenic (ha!) Brea and you don’t have time to drive to a charming old town somewhere, you’re really not left with much choice as far as I can tell.So...we were pleasantly surprised by the food at this restaurant. I had enough roast duck on the plate in my dish to last two meals. Admittedly I’m not prone to gluttony, however, it was a lot of food. And it was very good to boot! My wife ordered the sushi plate and that was very good also. Oh, and the service was excellent. On the negative side, they only serve tediously boring Japanese beer, which is a bit silly in my opinion given all the wonderful local craft beers available on the West Coast. C’est la vie I suppose. So all-in-all I give this restaurant four stars. In a different location I might even give them five stars, but I could never bring myself to give five stars to a restaurant in a strip mall. Sorry!

TAPS Fish House & Brewery

Every once in a while, Taps does a special dinner paired with wine. This time around it was paired with Scotch and Whiskey! This was a 3 course meal paired with a wide palette for Scotch & Whiskey drinkers: from mild (Suntory Scotch) to a heavy mossy Laphroaig for the 2nd course and Jim Beam, Black Extra Aged for the final course.Approximately, 70 people joined the occasion, held out in the patio area, may have not been the best location, since the patio is next to Imperial Highway and with evening traffic, the hearing competition was at it's highest. The Chef has a culinary series, a farm vineyard to table specials and this one was Interesting: 1- Tempura Squash Blossom paired with Japanese Scotch. 2-House Cured Skuna Bay Salmon paired with Laphroaig Scotch. And lastly, Bourbon marinated Duck Breast with the Jim Beam Whiskey. All 3 pairing were very good. Price fixe dinner was $69 each. Not Bad! But, it did not include dessert nor coffee, which in my mind should have been. The allocation of Scotch & Whiskey was to say, minimal. So, as compared to Wine, I would like to have a little more offerings to savory the taste of scotch with the meal. All in all, it was a nice evening, joined by John, my Father-in-law and my Son, Noah. And Cheers to Noah, on to the Wharton MBA program.Cheers to Noah, indeed! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and enjoying our World of Whisky 3 course dinner, along with your son, father-in-law and John. We do have these events often, so your feedback is definitely helpful in making sure we provide you with an even better experience the next time. Thank you again, we hope to enjoy a return visit from you in the future.

After reading the recent reviews for "On The Hook" it's almost like we dined at a different restaurant. We found the service at best, inadequate. An excessive amount of time passed before our first entree was served (Jambalaya), another 10 minutes passed before our second entree (Cajun Catfish) arrived. Both entrees were served with no silverware. Having said that, both the Jambalaya and Cajun Catfish were quite good.

I have eaten at El Pollo Fino at least 50 times. I only go for their chicken. Although they have other kinds of Mexican food, the chicken is what always brings me back. I usually order a combination chicken plate, which comes with three pieces of chicken, rice and beans, and a drink. It's about $1.25 cheaper then El Pollo Loco. Personally, I prefer the salsa they have at El El El Pollo Loco. El Pollo Fino also tends to screw up orders a lot. One time, three times in a row. It's gotten to the point that when I take out, I make the waitstaff show me the food. As long as you go during regular meal times; 11-ish, five-ish, the chicken will be fresh, hot and delicious. In between times, there is a chance it might be dry and stringy. The wait staff are very cool. All of them speak both English and Spanish. I know most of them by name after frequenting this establishments, for such a long time. Try the place out, I doubt that you will be disappointed.
