Best Seafood food near Charleston, West Virginia, United States

Reviews on Seafood food in Charleston, West Virginia, United States. Once a frontier town and home to Daniel Boone, today Charleston is the historic, sophisticated capital of West Virginia and home to a variety of exciting cultural and recreational attractions. The State Capitol, with its gleaming 23-karat gold dome and classic 20th-century architecture, is truly a sight to see. Most of the city's major landmarks are located right around the Capitol, making it easy to see everything. Wander around the meticulously landscaped grounds to view statues of historic figures like Stonewall Jackson and Abraham Lincoln. History and culture buffs will want to spend some time at the Cultural Center, which includes a state museum, reference and archive libraries, a theater and plays host to special events throughout the year. For those who prefer outdoor endeavors, more than a hundred miles of spectacular scenery await you on the Midland Trail scenic highway, also known as U.S. Route 60. Hop off at any point to do some antiquing, biking or hiking. The Kanahwa Forest offers more than 9,000 acres of exploration and recreation just south of town. Shopping, interesting attractions and plenty of outdoor fun make Charleston an ideal getaway.

Wife and I stopped in on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm recently after a day of shopping in Charleston. Every seat in the entrance was full with people waiting for tables as was most of the outside benches. We gave our names and were given one of those little ringy dingy thingy’s and told it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. I looked back thru the restaurant and it appeared to be not really that busy. I walked back toward the bathrooms and every small booth on the left side was clean and empty. 8 or 10 of them, all empty. There were 3 used booths on the right side that had been used but not bussed yet. A lot more tables were empty and a lot more tables also had not been cleaned. Don’t know what the problem is at this restaurant but it desperately needs some attention. If it’s labor issues then they need to hire more people, if it’s management issues then they certainly need new management, or just close the doors and not have to deal with any of that and save even more labor and management costs. I liken this situation to when I go to Walmart or Lowe’s and there is one checkout register open and 10 or 12 people in line, I just leave. This is the second time I have walked out of this restaurant, they will not get a third chance, I won’t be back. I

Indoor or outdoor seating. Casual easy atmosphere. Food is better than good. I had the shrimp taco with red beans and rice and thoroughly enjoyed it. No desserts because there is a bakery down the street and others in the area have desserts, very disappointed husband. I left by purse by accident, and called and they had put it behind the counter for me. Nice nice people.

Easy to get to, just off I-64. Also very easy on back to interstate. Located on Smith St. Just beyond the left center field fence Of Appalachian Power Park. Maybe a home run ball bounces to the restaurant. Friendly service. Good menu. We had swordfish and the shrimp and grits. Both were very good. It can be pricy. But for us, two great meals, $54. Minus tip. Free parking. Full bar We loved it.

We were visiting from out of town and heard this was a good place to eat. It was an interesting drive up the hill to get there but it was well worth it. I got the fried green tomato blt, my dad got the aspargus parmesan soup and my sister got the last chicken salad sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed my BLT, my dad really liked his soup and my sister liked her sandwich. The french fries were good and we were very happy with the brewed iced tea, sweet and unsweet. The server Tiffany did a great job and we all enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. When we come back to Charleston will eat here again. Thank you so Much Marti for your kind review! We love when guest have a positive experience w/us at the Bistro! I will be sure to pass this info along to Chef John & Tiffany! We look forward to your visit back w/us in Charleston WV!!

The lunch menu is the only thing available from 11:00 - 5:00, and it is limited to burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I ordered a Cubano, but apparently they didn't have all the ingredients to make it. Those missing items also knocked a few other sandwiches off the menu. Their chicken club was not a club sandwich at all - it was a big fried chicken breast with bacon and swiss cheese - but it was tasty. My daughter had a burger, and it was not overcooked () . Service was friendly, but not particularly attentive. Overall, we're glad we found this place, but wish we could have ordered off the dinner menu, which looked great.

Tidewater Grill

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in Charleston and had dinner here at the Tidewater Grille basically across the street. The Tidewater Grill is part of the downtown mall in Charleston. There is easy parking associated with the mall itself, but it was only a two-minute walk or so to our hotel and would be convenient to much of downtown. The interior has lots of wood and has a nice, if not overly fancy, ambience. The restaurant, as the name tells you, focuses on seafood and they have fresh deliveries twice a week. I know one day is Thursday, so Thursday and Friday are great. If memory serves, I believe the other day was Monday. We were here on a Friday and the fish was quite fresh. We had the jerk shrimp as an appetizer and liked it. The crab cakes had a lot of crab, which we also liked as some restaurants are far heavier on the filler than this one was. Our entrees were also very good, although one member of our party found the salmon pasta to be a little bland. The portions were on the large side. They have a relatively small wine list, but had no trouble finding a good white that complemented our meal. Our service was maybe not the most polished, but they were friendly and attentive, and those are the most important things.Charleston is likely hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean, but we enjoyed our meal and would recommend it if you have a hankering for sea food.

We were visiting Charleston and wanted to have a nice dinner. I was able to call and make reservations the day of for a party of three (online reservations would have been nice). Parking is free in the attached lot. We were greeted by name. The service overall was excellent and we all loved our food. I had the petite filet, which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My only very small suggestion is to serve the shrimp cocktail on crushed ice. If I ever make it back to WV I will definitely dine at Laury’s.
