Hotel has been renovated beautifully & is so nice. Restaurant is more up market than the normal pub restaurant. The mushroom risotto whilst a small serve was one of the tastiest I have out. Pizza was nice with a lovely thin & crispy base. Service was 1st class.

The Aussie as it is known has a separate dining room - attractive for those who are not overly excited about eating in a pub. The decor is warm and inviting with a fire operating in Winter . The menu is large and the portions are very big. The Chicken Snitzel is enormous but tender and moist. Our party loved the wedges , the Cob loaf garlic bread and excellent salt and pepper squid . Perhaps the best value for money eatery in Cessnock - and its not overly noisy .

A great start with a friendly greeting at the door and a quick tour of the place, and things stayed at this high standard.Very friendly and helpful staff throughout and excellent food - I tried the fried chicken BLT, which was much more sophisticated than the title would suggest.Am interesting menu with many twists on old favourites and RSL staples.Well worth a visit.

Potter's Tavern

Food is usually okay here. Have had many things over different visits. On this visit I tried the cheese platter which was a good size serve for the price. Big range of drinks. Huge indoor restaurant separate from the bar so good for families. Large outdoor area which is smoking so not ideal for families even though they usually have a jumping castle there at the weekend and lawn games for the kids. Pokey area is smoking so favours smokers over non smokers which is unfair and biased. Lots of car parking. Restaurant queue to place food order can be very lengthy and time taking
