Legends Bar and Grill

Went on Tuesday evening with a group of 5 guys. Crowded it as AYCE chicken wings Tuesday special. Lots of regulars and separate section with about dozen trays of different flavored wings. Looked really good but I blood test later that week. Our group had personal pizzas, Greek salad, baked pasta w/ meatballs and meatball hero. A first visit for our Group and everyone satisfied with taste, seasoning and portion. Menu says allow 40 minutes for calzone which none had but it still took 40 minutes. That was ok as food was hot and tasty. Not fancy inside but clean and neat.

Basically this is a potentially good restaurant and with some work in a few areas could be much better. Food and drinks were very good but service was slow and not professional in that when we came in it took quite awhile for someone to come over to offer water and take drink orders. Then we asked for the evening specials and the bar guy/waiter didn’t know and was over heard saying he wasn’t on the clock yet. He had a too laid back attitude. Our waitress had to ask someone else about specials. When she finally had a tray with our drinks, she stopped along the way to chat with another table for several minutes first. As for food, I enjoyed my steak salad, served in a taco shell. Veggies were very fresh. Shell was stale tasting but I didn’t really mind since I wasn’t going to really eat it. I ordered a small dish of chicken wings first, very good. The others ordered steaks, hamburgers and a quinoa steak bowl. Hamburgers and steak were served in a slate type plate which the guys didn’t really like. Large, full bar and a few tables. Parking on the street.

I had been to the doctor in Leesburg and we asked for a good place for lunch. The doctor, nurse and entire staff recommended Mojo’s. Our waiter, Melo was fabulous. I told him that I had a rare medical condition that messes with my pancreas and that I could not have oil, butter, mayo, Miracle Whip and so on. He immediately started pointing out dishes that could be fixed so I could eat them. What a great guy! Our food was great, service was excellent and the atmosphere/decor was super fun. We will be back soon and request to sit at Melo’s table, I’m giving them a five because of Melo and his willingness to take care of me. Otherwise, I would have given them a four. Fun place, go and enjoy.

Unique, friendly riverside dining. I had buffalo frog legs and a pound of crawfish, paired with ice cold beer. Best frog legs in memory and excellent crawfish. Probably not to everyone's taste, but I enjoyed them. They also serve more traditional items, but heck, shouldn't you have frog legs and crawfish when you're dining on the river. Service was excellent and priced fairly. Unique setting just east of the locks on Haynes Creek. The guy singing country was entertaining. Gas dock if you come by boat. Indoor dining if you like. I'll return again with friends.

After being excited to find a Chicago dog place near me I was almost a happy camper. The dogs were as close to any for the real deal but I was disenchanted when I found they didn't have signature fries or any as far as that goes. The tamales were spot on and would return just for them. the beef tasted good and alike to the Chicago tradition but the beef was sliced not shredded then heated in microwave I think and juice was poured on, it haven't been simmered together. The Gyro was pre sliced and just heated not off the spit or even grilled on grill table. Didn't try it because of that. All in all it was a pleasant experience and I will return.Thank you for your for your visit and taking the time to review. Depending on where you go in Chicago will depend on how the beef is prepared. Shredded beef is usually from sitting in Au Jus for large periods of time. It will eventually fall apart. This is one way to cook beef. The other way is to slice it so thin that when its put in the hot Au Jus it will simmer to a tender perfection while you prepare the balance of the sandwich. (that's the way we do it) You can get your Italian beef dry, wet; where we pour our homemade Au Jus over the sandwich or the whole sandwich dipped. We use Turano bread, so it will hold up to a full dunking. Only time a sandwich might see the microwave is for a few seconds to evenly melt the cheese. (if ordered with cheese)We use what is called Kronos Broil for our Gyros, it's freshly sliced from a spit and then sent to us from Kronos. Gyro meat on a flat top tends to dry it out. I am glad that we made the grade on our Chicago Dogs and tamales. We take pride in being as authentic as possible and still be 1100 miles away from the Windy City. We don't have fries. It was a financial decision. The cost of a fire suppression system ($20,000), increased insurance cost and the increased heat load on the AC, would force an increase in food prices. Because the majority of our product comes directly from Chicago and adding greatly to our food costs, we felt it was better not to have the additional cost, to keep prices lower overall. I am happy you are coming back to see us again. Ask for me when you do. My name is John. We can share some stories about our hometown.
