We get Martinello's whenever we're in College Point becuase it's the best pizza in town. With that being said, let it be known that the competition is not all that stiff. Martinello's is about mid-grade pizza at best ... something you can find in just about any-town USA. The staff however are courteous and friendly and we'll continue to eat there until something better comes along.

I found myself in the heart of Flushing while meeting a client and wanted to have some quick bite while checking my office messages:I walked into Sal's and the staff quickly acknowledged my presence and took my order. I selected my beverage from the refrigerator next to the counter and another staff member assisted me in holding the door while I retrieved my beverage. I ordered on pepperoni slice and another spinach with cheese slice. The crust was perfectly cooked and crisp while the cheese used for both was fresh and delightful.

This bustling Pizza "parlor" is located in a busy shopping mall off the Whitestone Expressway in "Flushing-Whitestone-College Point" .They serve an excellent slice of thin crust pizza unlike ant you may have experienced before. The staff here is "gruff but loveable". In other words--take you pie and git! Too busy here for small talk.

Cascarino's

Visiting Cascarinos Pizzeria yesterday while in Queens! We had a few problems with our dining experience! The service was great, and the food came pretty quickly! Unfortunately, the Manhattan cocktail I ordered came with a little more protein than I wanted, a fly was doing backflips in my drink! The waiter whisked it away and set it near the computer in kitchen, which was in view. He said he remade it, but I witnessed him serving me the same drink! Tsk Tsk!The grandma's pizza we ordered was great! It was huge and had a nice crust, sauce and fresh mozzarella and basil. Really a delicious pie! You know I love my lentil soup, but their lentil soup was not good!! Tasted a tad bit better than dish water! It had a watery, tasteless broth! Onto entrees! The chicken Parmignia was very good except it had a lot of grizzle! The sauce was excellent and the pasta was good! My lasagna was good but it was hard to find in all the cheese it had on top and floating in! Less cheese would have made this dish a winner! All in all a moderate dining experience. It's not a place I would return to or recommend though.

I was visiting Flushing and figured I'd try someplace different for pizza. Much to my disappointment, there was no street parking nearby (we had someone in the car who couldn't walk). So, while I can't review the food, I thought it was worth sharing this with others who might be considering.

Louie & Ernie's Pizza

After visiting the botanical gardens, feeling peckish and craving pizza we checked our go to on-line adviser and off we drove 20 minutes to this homey pizzeria. Servers smiled and warmly greeted us as we entered. The space appears small but there was a sunny welcoming outdoor dining area. We felt as if we were dining at the home a a friend. My slice had the requirements of good pizza; thin crispy crust with a hint of salt that crunches just a bit when I sliced my incisors through it with a thin layer of cheese that when pulled from my teeth formed a string from my mouth to the slice. A light layer of sauce added a bit of acid and sweetness that enhanced the flavors. The pizza was not oily. Priced at $3.25; a bit expensive.OK, now the CALZONES; the best I ever had. A variety of these cheese stuffed breads were available. I had the broccoli rabe. It was huge, enough for dinner. The crust was nicely thin yet thick enough to hold the savory ingredients, slightly salty filled with mozzarella cheese and fresh tasting broccoli rabe. I side of red sauce for dipping added sweet, salty moisture. My husband had the chicken parm. calzone; he gobbled it up so quickly, I just know he enjoyed it. Each were reasonably priced at $6.50Things to know, ample parking, cash only, ATM available and no delivery.
