Between events we dropped in for a cool beverage. Good selection of beers, excellent chips and salsa, the real deal. We checked out the menu (reasonable prices and good variety) and would have stayed for dinner but our schedule would not permit. We would definitely come here for dinner on our next visit to the Berkshires.

Fabulous smoothies, healthy salads and a great overall menu for people who are health conscious and like simple, well-prepared food. Vegetarians will be pleased with the options. The staff are cheerful and helpful. We went there twice, and bought take-out salads for our trip back home to Canada.

Coming from California, our expectation for high quality Mexican food were not high. However, to our surprise, our meals were excellent. My wife's black bean soup & portobello mushroom salad as well as my al pastor burrito were all delicious. Our young bilingual server was charming.

We have dined here for the past five years when vacationing in the Berkshires. When you remember great Mexican food, good value and good service, it's disappointing to find a decline in each element. We spend every January-February in Nuevo Vallarta, so we have a good basis for comparison; Xicohencatl used to compare favorably. At our last visit last year we noticed the beginning of the decline but chalked it up to a bad night or the chef was out. This year confirmed our opinion. My ribs and my wife's molcajete were bland. Our friends' fajitas were mediocre at best. What really frosted our cookies was their $1.00 addition for extra sour cream for the fajitas. The amount of sour cream included with the meal was minuscule so there shouldn't have been an upcharge. Our friend complained to the manager and was told that this is their policy, sorry. We had tolld our friends how good this restaurant had been and had to apologize to them for the manager's poor judgment.Try other restaurants in Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Lenox and Lee for better food service and value

Visiting Great Barrington from out of town, we decided to check out some of the local Mexican food. GB has surprising number of options for such a small town. We selected Fiesta because it was walkable to our hotel, and we hoped to sample several margaritas. Walking in from Main St we were not so sure - there is a tiny sign underneath a shabby torn awning directing entry into a long hallway with a few small shops and cafes. I would rate it zero for curb appeal. At the far end of the hallway, near a lighter, brighter entry at at the rear of the building, we arrived at Fiesta. We were promptly seated, and offered water and menus. (note to staff: wash the menus. they are pretty grungy) We ordered our first round of margaritas (house) and they were delicious - a house mix obviously made with fresh lime juice. As an appetizer we tried the chile con queso. It was good, but contained a lot of meat (seasoned ground beef) so if you are expecting simple white queso, be prepared for a large bowl of meaty cheese dip. Second round, I had the jalapeno margarita, and hubby upgraded to the Presidente. Both were delicious. The jalapeno had a nice fresh pepper kick at the back end, but still easily drinkable. The Presidente featured a heavy hit of Cointreau which is not my favorite, but the hubby loves it. For dinner, I ordered the pollo mole. The mole was nothing short of spectacular - rich, complex, velvety smooth and completely satisfying. (If you have ever had really good mole negro you know what I am talking about.) The chicken was tender and well cooked, and the rice and beans were perfectly tasty. I ordered a side of flour tortillas to sop up the extra mole. Hubby had the Mexican Flag enchiladas, and selected shredded beef for his filling. He raved about the sauces (the roja sauce in particular) and the delicious and well prepared stewed beef. Time for another round of margaritas. Hubby went for another Presidente, and at the suggestion of our wonderful waitress, I tried the Hibiscus. Hibiscus.... at first taste it was somewhat tart and very floral. I thought it would make a good bath product. I was expecting something more like Red Zinger hibiscus tea, but it was not particularly sharp or citrusy. It was interesting. So I sipped some more. Then it was even more interesting. So I sipped more still. Then I was hooked. It was delicious, and refreshing and bright. Yummmmm. :DTo wind up our meal, we had a final round of margaritas. A third Presidente for the hubs, and another house marg for me. We were relaxed, buzzed, completely filled up and satisfied. We walked back to the hotel knowing that we made exactly the right choice to go to Fiesta.
