Stopped for late Saturday lunch. Menu is extensive and even includes tamales, which you don't always see. American and Mexican beers and margaritas, along with different brands of tequila. Good burritos and tacos and large portions. Chips and salsa of course and nice service. Prices are reasonable. We will return.

Taqueria La Mordida

If you are visiting Half Moon Bay, California and are thinking Taqueria then your biggest problem will be which one to go too. Luckily in California they are all pretty good. This place in no exception to that. Small taqueria located in Safeway shopping center complex just off the Cabrillo Highway 1. Restaurant has indoor and outside dining. Service is fast. Staff speaks fluent Spanish but English is a bit weak. Overall great food and my dinner was under $10.00 which is really hard to do in the bay area.

Mavericks Creperie

I urged my husband to try this spot for breakfast since they are among the few breakfast eateries serving real maple syrup these days. The eggs were tasty but the servings were on the small scale. The bacon was out of this world and that also would describe the young man who took our order. OUT OF THIS WORLD in terms of seeming like he was either deranged or part of a work release program or both. Scowling, devoid of manners, almost seemingly angry, the dark haired, buff 20-something was clearly out of his element in the service industry. Unless the management doesn't mind and is aiming for the Tartine brand of entitled aloofness. We saw him smiling and joking with another unsmiling member of the grim team but once he was serving people, the scowl returned. Who is minding the shop? The cafe has potential but I recommend a training program for the staff. I also recommend increasing the portions for the money. There was a scant bit of cheese in my cheese omelet and the crepe was small as well.

Happy Taco

There are several Taquerias in Half Moon Bay. They are really good. You have to try them all and pick which one as your spot. Happy Taco certainly is one of the better ones. Lots of Mexican bottle beers. All kinds of tacos, burritos and your typical Mexican favorites like enchiladas and nachos. Salsa bar with indoor seating and food to go. Very inexpensive and large amounts of food. You will leave happy!

La Mexicana has a little of everything. Serving up the classic Taqueria specialty's like tacos, burrito's and tamale's, they also serve burgers, fries and awesome fried chicken. Great inexpensive place to go get food to go. They also have a small indoor and patio area for on-site dining. Nothing fancy but really good local Mexican food with burgers and fried chicken.

Cafe Capistrano is one of our go-to spots for a quick and delicious lunch. Chef Arturo grew up on the Mayan Peninsula, and his menu and flavor profile pay homage to his roots. One thing you must try is the Pumpkin Seed Dip with tortilla chips. A fantastic departure from traditional Mexican salsa, the dip is based on a Half Moon Bay staple...pumpkins. I'm not usually a fan of pumpkin, but Arturo has really nailed it with this dip. Add a few dashes of their house made Habanero hot sauce, and it will definitely wake up your palette. We've never had a bad meal here. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is the interior is getting a little tired. That said, you won't notice once you start eating.
