Had tried to visit the previous night but was full but pleased we returned - can understand why the place gets booked up even midweek. A small but well considered menu offering up fresh and great tasting food. Particularly recommend the foie gras and the salmon and steak tartares. Will definitely return if we get the chance...

Celler de la Planassa

We had a meal consisting of the set menu, consisting of appetizers, main dishes and desserts. It was all wonderful. The restaurant served us a small appetizer with olives. We ordered as appetizers fried calamari, and croquetas of chicken and of cheese. Spanish croquetas have a thin crunchy breaded coat over a pasty filling. Both types were savory, and the cheese croquetas were filled with a kind of blue cheese, which kept its distinctive flavor but was not overpowering. Two groups of two diners shared two of the signature dishes at the restaurant: seafood paella, and seafood fideua. Fideua is a dish prepared much like paella, except using inch-long pieces of broken fideos, a fine noodle commonly used is Spain for soups, instead of rice. Both were excellent. I had the chicken, also very good. For desserts, we had chocolate soufflé with raspberry sauce which was not too sweet, just a little tart; sorbet de maracuya (passionfruit) which was also tart, but delicious in taste with a great consistency; mango ice cream, sweet and very creamy with a delicious flavor; requesón (a kind of creamy Spanish cheese) with layers of honey; and crema catalana, which is sort of like a Catalan version of flan with a surface of caramelized sugar, also delicious. All the desserts are house-made. The server was very polite, attentive and engaged, offering suggestions and demurrers as he felt necessary. The woman who served as the maitre d' was also very engaging, and described what were possibly her creations — the restaurant is small, and there were only the two of them in the dining room — lovingly, and made suggestions based on preference expressed. She may have been the owner; I didn't ask. I whole-heartedly recommend it for great food. It cost us €170 for 5 fixed-price dinners, a couple of glasses of wine, some soft drinks, a couple of bottles of water.

Don't expect it to surprise you with extravagant cook creations. What you will find is honest true catalan cuisine, made out of fresh quality raw material from nearby.Few tourists and mostly locals is another sign of well understood quality. It is literally hidden in the forest, but one can reach it out following the signs. Be aware of vehicles coming from the opposite direction, as the road has only one lane in most of it.Once you reach the place, you will not be disappointed, although better book in advance, as it can only host a limited number of people.Thank you so much for your opinion. We will be happy to serve you on another occasion. Greetings.

Well, is it a wine bar that serves food or a restaurant that has an excellent offer in wines? I would go for the first option, in view of the limited choice of meals. But don't bother, the meals we took (potatoes with eggs and foie; steak tartare) were excellent! Their own wine, Raió, was a positive surprise: elevated in terracotta amphoras and thereafter bottled. Great balance of ripe fruits. Why a score of 4 and not 5? Because it's worth at least 4.5 but just not the full five...Thank you for your visit. And of course for your opinion. Our menu is not extensive as we like to work with local and seasonal products: Fish of the day and the port, mushrooms from the mountains in front of the restaurant, veal of the Pyrenees, etc ... Bistro in every rule. We hope to see you soon again !!

There are three generations behind tipis charming restaurant. It serves local Emporda, market cuisine cooked with care and good taste. It has two dining rooms, a third, private golf-inspired dining hall and an outdoor pergola.

Went a couple of times to this restaurant in the evenings as it was close to our villa. Both times the food was good particularly the fideiu with prawns and the steaks. Very good wine, and attentive and friendly service. Easy to park.

Had the wonderful opportunity to meet the owners of the coffee (lovely young couple) and learned about their experience in a small, traditional Spanish town. Thought, yet, there they are ! The place is cool, young, fresh, fun and full of cacti--everybody loves cacti.Food: TRANSPARENTLY home-made. Everything from the bread itself, to the crackers, to the focaccias, to the seitan is made by the chef who, I believe, must be a baker of some sort for every dish was perfectly mastered. The place is vegetarian and vegan friendly. It heavily relies, however, on organic wheat. Which makes it awfully gluten-free unfriendly. I personally could not eat there everyday considering I try to avoid wheat as much as possible. But let the world know, that if I am to eat gluten and wheat again, it shall be there, with their incredible home-made bread and focaccias. ALSO: dog-friendly. Cheers xx

Creativity without the required tecnique to execute. Ideas sounded good. execution was subpar for the style of cuisine. For less money than you will pay here you can have a top experience by chefs that spent many years at the very best restaurants. You will have to go to Cadaquès, Blanes or Barcelona, but you will have better produce, better execution an better service. At this price they weirdly are willing to serve the wine for you all the time but also want you to reuse the same dirty silverware for all dishes, fish and meat included. We had to ask for them to be changed a couple of times. I can see this place was successful at the beggining if prices were more moderate, the cuisine is indeed original and if the chef would bother to improve his technique he has potential. When he is charging this much for a recicled bar, no, not good enough. We won't repeat. Not to say it is bad, but nowhere near the expectations generated.

Restaurant Vall-Llobrega

We wouldn’t have found this place if not for our newly-found Spanish friends. Located just off the C-31, above Palamos, this restaurant is a local favourite – and don’t we know it, it was sooo busy at lunchtime on a Thursday! People were literally queueing to get in, and they were family groups or friends, nobody looked like a tourist (except us for sure). So glad we made the effort. It is as authentic and as rustic one can ever hope for in terms of Catalonian cuisine. After a 15 minute wait, we were ushered into a huge room filled with people all happily tucking into the menu of the day. At 10€ (3 courses), how can you lose? We had huge slabs of steak for mains, and a local bean stew for starters, and egg flan for my dessert (my husband had a plateful of melon slices for his). Wow oh wow, the servings were simple but generous and so yummy! A glass of local wine and coffee in the end. Our bill amounted to 38€ for 3 of us, and we could have taken half our food home! So good! Love the service too. Nobody spoke English, but my goodness, you felt so welcome anyway, you almost think you’re a local. No wonder this place is popular. ps there is a big carpark on the other side of the road, no problems with parking at all
