We were just passing through and feeling a bit peckish and decided to stop for lunch. This was a very worthwhile decision. Beautiful location and what a menu! We opted for aubergines with tomato and Serrano ham and quails eggs. It was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. So much to choose from and reasonable prices. We will definitely be there again to sample more. The chef obviously cares about food and presentation and the waiter wS attentive but not in your face. What a find!

Having lived around the area for 10 years, and written many positive restaurant trip advisor restaurant reviews, we wanted to return to Monda castle to positively review the changes. It started well. Great welcome. Perfect location. Service attentive. Sadly we left disappointed. Our meals were poor and we left feeling insulted by the attitude of the waiter / manager. We ordered the â¬55 sharing chuleton de vaca steak. It arrived looking plentiful and piled with asparagus. On cutting into the steak it was evident it was mostly fat and inedible. (Judge the quality for yourself - the picture is attached) We told the waiter, who was also the manager (the English one) and rather than apologising and offering to replace or refund the steak he was very defensive, accusing us of eating most of the steak and leaving the fat before bringing him over and raising our complaint! He also said he warned us it was fatty. He only said it was the best steak, full of flavour and âlightlyâ marbled, but not that it would be 80% fat - as you can see from the photo!! After 10 mins of further argument where he still refused to bring another steak or refund our money, bizarrely he then admitted that other customers had complained about the fat too and offered us a free Dessert!! Small compensation for â¬55 and missing out on a main course!The other meal was monkfish and lobster stew. 2 pieces of monkfish and two tiny pieces of meat from the claw. Tasty but not worth â¬27. We all left hungry and dissatisfied and went to another restaurant for dessert and coffee.It could have been such a different and dare I say it potential for a positive customer experience. The evening was ruined by the portions, substandard overpriced food and argumentative attitude of the manager. Bizarrely as we were leaving the manager realised he handled the situation badly, put his hands in the prayer position and said âsorryâ. Too late. Lost our business forever. You have been warned. Such a shame. Poor service from management who canât accept customer criticism. We shall certainly let our community know to avoid this overly priced restaurant should they also be unfortunate enough to meet this manager and be dissatisfied with their order.Dear nikkih298, Thank you for sharing your experiences at our restaurant. I'm very sorry in your case this hasn't worked out.Your story reads like a horror one and we like to take the opportunity to share with you our side of the story. (My apologies to the Vegans and Vegetarians among us for the following detailed explanation about large cuts of meat)When Matthew took your order, he explained that the cut of meat you picked really is a connoisseur's one (weighing about 1kg of which about 20% is fatty and also has a piece of bone), it is much appreciated by meat lovers, because the fat and bone add to the taste and tenderness of the meat, but not so much by someone who isn't a fan of this type of meal. Hence he asked you if you were sure about taking it and also suggested the more friendly chateaubriand (fillet steak) which you also find on our menu. Five minutes after serving the steak he approached your table and asked you if you were enjoying your meal. You said you were.When you had finished eating (it's normal one doesn't eat all the fatty bits (however some do)) you told us you were disappointed and refused to pay for the meal. Matt expressed his surprise and remarked that he explained to you the characteristics of the meat beforehand and asked you why you hadn't told him when he came over to check on you. Is this the part which you interpreted as him being rude? What you refrain to mention is that he did feel sorry for you and that he asked the kitchen to prepare for you a smaller version of the chateaubriand which is on our menu in order for you to try the difference (this obviously free of charge). He also offered desserts on the house in a final attempt to settle the mood.We do feel sorry about this occurrence and truly regret that despite all, you haven't enjoyed your time with us. The vast majority of our guests is very happy with their experiences at our hotel and we'd love to be able to show you that we really aren't all that bad. We love this place. There is always a welcome from Paco. Only open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday lunchtimes and feria days nothing much changes here. The menu is always the same which is fine and the menu is large and we have yest to eat our way through it. There is outside seating with good views of the village and countryside. On inclement days the interesting restaurant indoors never fails to please. Paco is very artistic and they have decorated the inside and outside in an interesting fashion.We go back as often as we can when we are in the village.

This bar is excellent value for both tapas and menu del dia. Friendly family atmosphere. Handily placed for the village of Yunquera, good to explore then return to the bar for refreshment.Parking can be difficult but side street behind the bar often has space available.

We visited Enara for lunch a few times whilst staying in nearby Alozaina. The staff are really friendly and the food is delicious. I'm not a coffee drinker but my husband says their coffee is lovely as well. We visited before their main restaurant menu became available so we're able to order tapas and sandwiches, all of great quality and quantity...and price!

Being long time visitors to Yunquera we're always on the lookout for something better than the current crop of eateries.And having been loyal devotees of this establishment in its former guise "back in the day" it was great to see the place open again.We visited on consecutive Fridays and on both nights the place was buzzing. The service is attentive, prompt and friendly. The food doesn't disappoint either, my steak was cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced, in fact when the bill came we were all pleasantly surprised, considering what we'd had. All in all a cracking establishment, let's hope this high standard continues.Right, mini gripe time! The gents toilet.....it's medieval.....it's just a hole! My aim isn't too bad for a geezer of my age but this needs sorting, surely.

This is a very basic but good restaurant in a white village just over 30 minutes drive from Marbella. The food is fresh and served by friendly efficient staff. We shared a number of plates but the calamari and rosada were exceptionaly good. Salads are also very good.

We had hoped to visit this restaurant last year, so this year we were determined to get there. Not one for Hotel restaurants back home we were sceptical, but the menu sounded so good. Perched high up above Tolox, approximately 3 1/2 kilometres from the town it is beautiful drive up. It is a constant incline, and bendy in places but majority of the road is wide enough for safe passing.We arrive for lunch and are shown into the restaurant where we have the pick of the tables and decide on a table in the corner, near a window which was open but had insect nets so very comfortable. The restaurant is very much to my liking, very minimalist, but traditional and comfortable with big table and nice simple linen. IT was a Friday lunchtime and we had booked, but it was quiet and only two other diners came in during our time there, although some hotel residents were eating in the garden.The menu has a very agreeable ten or so dishes each for starters and main courses, it was a difficult choice. I settled for the warm goats cheese salad and my husband had the oxtail ravioli, the salad was a good size and could easily satisfied as a snack lunch, the ravioli was light and so tasty with tender oxtail and a drizzle of the gravy on top. For main, again spoilt for choice I had the comfi duck with cous cous, now this is a treat indeed, a breast of duck cooked pink and a comfi leg crispy outside, tender and pink inside; the cous cous was a triumph with the tiniest of veg in it, I have never had such lovely cous cous. MY husband chose the ox cheek, which a lot of people have never had, but you really should try it as you see it a lot on menus in Spain, having been a fan for a few years this was a choice I agonised over. It was caramelised with a beautiful rich sauce accompanied with beautifully prepared and cooked vegetables and a small jacket/roasted potato.Well we had to move onto the pudding, just a few choices, I had the pineapple mousse with coconut sorbet and crushed caramelised walnuts, which was so light a refreshing and my husband had the cheesecake, equally as good but not cheesecake as we expected, it was more like a yogurt with crushed biscuit and a fruit coulis. All this a bottle of wine, water and soft drinks for just under 100 euros of about £74 when it came in on the credit card. An absolute bargain for some of the finest fine dining I have experienced in Spain. Finally, I would add, the staff are helpful and friendly but extremely professional knowing how to serve, when to clear and giving you just the right amount of time between courses. Thank you for a wonderful experience, we will be back before we go home.

We were recommended to try this fairly new restaurant in the hills above Tolox. It cannot be denied it occupies a superb position in the hills with wonderful views but I was sorry the experience did not match up to expectations. I found the service to be quite slow and they were not particularly busy for this Sunday lunch session, and they seemed unable to bring the dishes for all six persons at the same time which we have found to be a frequent failing of restaurants in Spain. I would like to comment on the adoption here of the new trend of having the menu cards on clipboards - very trendy and it works well if the menu is changed frequently but when the clipboard arrives with grubby and well-worn pages it is slightly off-putting. Somewhere in the several pages of menu, we must have missed the line where it lists bread @ 1â¬; we didn't notice it and were surprised to find this charge on the bill. The prices were quite high enough to absorb the cost of a bread roll per person. So for those two reasons alone, I don't think I will be returning to La Lola in Tolox. Sorry, but that's the truth as I found it.
