I dined at this restaurant for lunch with four co-workers, 3 of whom had never had Cuban food and they enjoyed it. The portions are very generous especially for the price. My coworker ordered the plantain chips appetizer, and we ended up getting a huge sampler that included 4 Croquetas, 2 Tamales, 2 Empanadas, 2 Papas Rellenas, Mariquitas. It was a surprise to us, and she paid for it so I didn't realize how much it was until I looked it up on the restaurant's site for inclusion here. It was $24.75. Not bad if splitting the bill, but may be pricey for just 2 people. There is a smaller option for $12.99. Honestly not sure which of the two we ended up with, but based on what was included, I'd say it was the large (see attached picture for reference, but keep in mind we had already started eating before picture was taken.)I have eaten my good share of Cuban food and consider it my best cuisine (outside of my cultural food) so consider this review from a savvy Cuban food eater. If you can afford to try the sampler mentioned above, try it. Everything was amazing. And they came out hot too.Full disclosure, I've been to this restaurant on a date with my then boyfriend (now husband) who had never had Cuban food, and wasn't pleased with the taste. I wasn't expecting a lot from my experience, but I was impressed. I ordered the Whole fried Red Snapper, which is listed at market price. Well it cost $35, which is pricey for a lunch, but I really wanted fish and didn't want filet. This is my only negative, that there aren't enough selections to choose from, compared to my favorite Cuban Restaurant in Montclair, N.J., but I don't hold that against them. At least the food tasted great. My food came with a generous portion of Congri (black rice and beans) and mixed vegetables. I took more than half of it home, which still tasted great later that night.Service was good and timely and the wait staff was very friendly. I forgot to note her name, which I apologize for. It wasn't too crowded for a lunch period and there were people from diverse cultures and races dining, which I think speaks to the quality of food. Overall, I made a note to bring my husband back for a re-do where I will definitely be ordering the sampler again. I think he will have a much better experience this time.

Caracol Mexican Coastal Kitchen

One of the beauties of Mexico is its geographic location, with coasts on the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, which is connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the Florida Straits. From these waters comes a bounty of edible sea life, w

Our three family members visited for lunch yesterday. Caracol gets a great review and we were excited. We dined in the bar - liked the atmosphere and the service was great throughout. I didn't find the food special in any way. I thought the guac lacked flavor. The tuna taco special was overcooked and dry. The pork enchiladas were pretty good, but nothing I'd consider special. We enjoyed the experience, but given the lofty reviews, we expected more.

Amazing place, very unassuming from the outside, cozy and charming inside. This is not Tex-Mex. I believe that they describe it as Northern Mexican food. Every bite was treat. It is obvious that all of their dishes are scratch made with love, pride and considerable skill. I had 2 appetizers, each a meal in itself. The divine decadence was the delicately fried cheese cubes accompanied by 2 dipping sauces. I can't remember the name of it, Cubos...something, but I took a picture which I'll post here. My other "appetizer" was 3 tacos, one sirloin steak, one pork and one brisket. Perfection. My husband ordered a hamburger, which I tasted, and he and I agree that it is top quality steak. Best chips I've ever had (I think they make them!) came with FIVE different salsas. We shared a piece of Tres Leches cake, so fresh and delicious! I had a margarita on the rocks and can testify that they don't scrimp on their cocktails. The guacamole was as fresh, delicious and as scratch made as my mother's. This place is quiet. You can actually hold a conversation. The chairs are very comfortable and the service is impeccable. This staff and the owner clearly take pride in their restaurant and their food.
