From its origins as a Connecticut River trading post in 1633, Hartford has become not only the state capital but also the insurance capital of the world, with a slew of historical attractions, a thriving arts and entertainment center, a revitalized riverfront and beautiful parks and public gardens. It was here that the lovable Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were born in the imagination of celebrated author Mark Twain and immortalized on paper during the writer's Hartford years. Twain's home and those of fellow literary figures Harriet Beecher Stowe and Noah Webster are open to the public. The Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest public art museum in the U.S., houses Pilgrim-Century furniture, the Amistad collection and a special treasure hunt system to entice kids to explore the museum's works. If your timing is right (end of June, beginning of July), you'll catch the Elizabeth Park rose gardens in bloom, but fall is also great for brilliant leaf colors, and spring yields colorful gardens and blossoming trees. For a bird's-eye view of the city, visit the observation deck of Travelers Tower, where you might also spot two resident falcons.

Feng Chophouse is located on a side, somewhat narrow, one-way street in Hartford. There is a parking lot across the street -- a bit pricey at $10 for two hours, but there is also street parking (metered) available. Our OpenTable reservation was immediately honored. We were offered seating in either the bar or the main dining room -- we chose the dining room and were seated at a nice table. The remodeling -- the restaurant was closed for a period -- is quite attractive, although it is somewhat dark (as seems to be the way of most steakhouses around here -- J. Gilbert's, Fleming's, Morton's (in its day -- sadly gone)). The service was efficient and professional, although not particularly warm. We ordered hand rolls prepared by the sushi chef -- my husband was quite happy with his California roll; the quality of mine was much better than anything I would get at Westside Market (Rocky Hill), but I should have ordered a vegetable roll, rather than one with shrimp in it (as it was a special occasion). That said, this was a taste preference on my part -- not any failure on the part of the restaurant. My husband ordered a filet from the chophouse menu. He thought it very good, although it didn't have that steakhouse flame-licked taste, which he would have preferred. I ordered the Korean BBQ short rib with slaw -- the short rib was as tender as could be; the sauce on it was very good (although I wish there had been more of it (and I would ask for a side of it now knowing)); the slaw was truly excellent, although the chef could have left out the cauliflower/green broccoli florets and the brown, largish-romanesco broccoli, which sadly looked like a turd (and was a distraction from an otherwise attractive presentation of the plate), and added more slaw. We also ordered a side of the bacon fried rice, which featured candied cashews -- this was a home run! We didn't order dessert -- we headed to Rocky Hill for ice cream at Scoops & Sprinkles to celebrate my husband's birthday. The acid test: would I go back? Yes, we will go back -- maybe once or twice a year. The bill came to about $130 for two -- no alcohol, no desserts, which was a bit on the pricey side, but not necessarily out of line.

I’ve enjoyed eating here for quite some time but was always in a hurry so I never got to fully enjoy a good sit in meal with them, The Sweet Potato hand roll is a real treat as well as many of the other rolls they offer , so fresh and yummy. I always drink a Sapporo with my meal to keep it OG so I haven’t had anything off their drink menu but the miso soup I enjoy every time as well as the Green Tea ice cream which I’m current having withdrawals from ;). The KBBQ is Pretty good but the main reason I go is their sushi. I would suggest sitting at the sushi bar and getting the whole experience. This place rocks and I always leave full

Great for business meetings (or work social celebrations)...lunch and dinner.Tip. ... For an intimate business meeting (20 or fewer), ask for seating upstairs Early in the week, dinner crowd was busy. Perhaps this was why service was slower. Food gets a 3.5 (appetizers, main dish, dessert). 5+ actually for desserts. Swordfish was so so, but I don't like strong tasting fish. Crusty crabcakes hit the spot.
