Florentine's Downtown Grill

Florentine's is situated in the heart of downtown Fullerton. One of the last authentic downtown's left in Orange County. They also have an adjacent nightclub, so if you are there on a Friday or Saturday night, expect a lot of foot traffic. The best way to approach the restaurant is to park behind it and go through the back entrance. My husband and I frequent this restaurant for a day night and we have also had family join us for birthday dinners and the like. My favorites on their menu are the cedar planked salmon and the braised short ribs. Their service is always warm and efficient, the atmosphere is a typical grill-house environment, and we are always happy campers when we leave, usually with a doggie-bag in hand.

Standard "build-your-own-pizza" chain, but main difference from Pieology, Blaze, Pizza Rev, etc, is the large selection of craft beers on tap. Each of these above mentioned chains have slight variations in available ingredients, sauces, cheeses, dough, etc. - but none of the others have such a large selection of beers. I do prefer the "larger" slices of pepperoni here as compared to the other stores, yet they do not have 'ground" sausage at this Pizza Press - only sliced.. If you like this style of thin crust pizza and have not tried a Pizza Press, I would recommend giving them a try and compare to the others you may have already tried..

The Old Spaghetti Factory

Reviewed By BruinDan

Based in Portland, Oregon, the Old Spaghetti Factory is a family-owned chain of restaurants that boasts over 40 locations in 13 states. The downtown Fullerton location is housed in the historic Union Pacific Depot and shares a parking lot with the Fullerton Transportation Center. NOTE that while the parking lot is large, it services the training station, bus depot, and many popular restaurants and nightclubs, so finding an open parking spot is often a challenge. If the surface lot is full (and you don’t mind walking a little), there is a parking structure by the bus loading area near Pomona Avenue. There is also another parking structure across Harbor Boulevard on Santa Fe Avenue.I’ve been to multiple Old Spaghetti Factory restaurants, and while the external structures and interior layouts are invariably different, there’s always a feeling of familiarity when you walk in. And, that’s definitely part of the allure of the Old Spaghetti Factory. You don’t go there expecting cutting edge cuisine in an ultra-contemporary setting, you go expecting warm bread, tasty and unpretentious food, friendly service and good value, all in a unique and eclectic environment. On our most recent visit my wife and I both ordered the “Manager’s Favorite” (spaghetti with two of their classic sauces); we both picked their signature Mizithra cheese and browned butter sauce as one of our sauces – highly recommended! NOTE that their entrees include a choice of soup or salad and a scoop of ice cream or spumoni for dessert. The food, service and cleanliness all met our expectations, and we left feeling pleased with the experience. Given their reliable quality and reasonable prices, it’s no surprise that the Old Spaghetti Factory is very popular (particularly among families), so you should be prepared to wait if you visit during peak dining hours, or try to go during off-peak hours. Either way, this restaurant is a good spot for either a pleasant lunch or satisfying dinner.

Roman Cucina

Went here as a group. First the good: Food was excellent, prices are very good- we tried the pesto, alfredo, rose, milanese, ravioli, calamari, mozarella bread,soup,cannolis-everything was outstanding! If for food alone it would be 5 stars. Ambience: Nice, romantic, dark. The cons: Made reservations, was told to arrive 30 minutes early, which we did but still seated 50 minutes later, and 20 minutes after reservation time. They can call your cell once your table is ready but not much to see in the immediate area, and the parking is hard so you will be waiting in the area. Waiting area was super small. Staff: Friendly, Service:not very time efficient-orders were taken one at a time for drinks, then for appetizers, then for entrees (3 times),slow to box and bring bill after we were done, maybe that prolongs wait times. Verdict: Recommended for food, arrive early at opening time

Pieology

They Are Also On Yelp.

Reviewed By BruinDan

Pieology is a chain of over 40 restaurants in 12 states that serves oven-fired pies made with a diverse range of sauces, cheeses & toppings. This unit in Fullerton on State College Boulevard near the intersection with Chapman Avenue is the spot where the concept originated. The service style is build-your-own, much like Subway for sandwiches and Chipotle for burritos. You first choose the kind of crust (white, whole wheat or gluten-free). Pieology specializes in thin crusted pies, but if you prefer a thick crust you can order one for an additional charge. Next, you select your sauce (red, Alfredo, herb butter, olive oil, pesto, BBQ, etc.), choose your cheeses and meats, and finally pick your toppings (various vegetables, garlic, basil, olives, etc.). They are very generous with the amount of toppings places on your pie.For those who find the build-your-own process a bit overwhelming, there are also pre-determined pizzas (such as cheese, veggie, Margherita, Alfredo, etc.) on the menu. The pizzas taste delicious and are a very good size for the price you pay. On our visit the service was friendly, quick and helpful. There is a good amount of seating inside. The parking immediately around the restaurant is a bit limited, so you may have to park in the adjacent shopping center. If you like the idea of customizing your pizza and enjoy a high-quality pie, you should consider a visit to Pieology.
