Restaurant located on a hill overlooking harbour and river running through Hamburg, and with an interesting history. Food was very well prepared, and service very good. I had the "Hamburg style" pen fried fish of cod and salmon, and it was perfectly prepared. Good selection of wine and beer list. Dining rooms spacious and huge, and ideal for parties.

Visited with friends as a last night of holiday celebration. We were lucky with the weather and could sit outside to eat. A fabulous view. And the food was great -- we had ordered a pre-set five course dinner, and it proved to be everything hoped for, and more. Really well prepared and presented. The Kochlounge is a real gem. Situated in a not so beautiful neighbourhood they have done a marvellous job to create a real oasis. The staff is alert, friendly and hospitable. The interior is tasteful and nicely decorated - warm and comfortable.The menu is not large, but has a only mouth-watering dishes. We were not disappointed! Dining with two young and not too patient children we felt welcome. There were toys for the little ones.All good and we will definitely come again. Doing the Sunday brunch is also on the to-do list!

Especially local food like Grünkohl, Labskaus or Stint (fish from the river Elbe) are excellent. You sit in an authentic place of the time when Blankenese was home of the captains and ship owners. Also wine and beer fit perfectly to the food.

Four of us dined here based upon reading the TA reviews. The menu is quite limited which is an observation, not a criticism. On a plus point, the service is excellent and cannot be faulted. The homemade breads were a nice touch. The complementary amuse bouche of serano ham and melon with a broken bread stick was a bit disappointing. My chosen meal though.... it was average at best! I selected the fish soup with the large crouton and rouille (â¬9.5) - it was possibly the worst fish soup I have ever eaten. Very watery, more like a broth, and literally didnât have any chunks of fish in it. This is usually my favourite starter and one that I usually always pick at french bistros. My main course was the whole sea bream with pea risotto (â¬26.5). As the menu said, it was a whole unfilleted grilled bream served with a side bowl of risotto and a few dressed leaves. I naively thought it might have been fillets laid on top of a risotto bed. It was okay, nothing special though. The 3 rating is because the other guests did enjoy their meals, otherwise it would have been lower from my perspective. I just didnât think the food was good enough so wouldnât recommend or return here.

Four of us had dinner there for a business meeting. Though it was evening, and there few folks eating the place was quite. We were able to conduct our conversations. The food was tasty and filling. Good portions and the meat was great!

Not an exceptional location or interior, but waiting staff and food quality certainly was and that made our visit worth mentioning! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable waitress. Prices for appetizers reasonable, for main dishes rather high but still reasonable seen the quality that was provided. We had a very good time and experience here!

The atmosphere comes first and come here if it would be only for this. Sit inside or in their backyard full of green. If you happen to be thirsty or hungry go for it! It is not amazing but definitely very good!
